K-Drama Reaction: Radiant Office | Episode 1

I had low expectations coming in to this show. To be honest with you, I have never watched Go Ah-sung or Ha Suk-jin in their previous dramas, so I can pretty much say that they have a clean slate on my list.

I know that Ha Suk-jin is even criticized for portraying another role similar to his previous dramas. But if that is what works best for him and that is what feeds him, who are we to complain, right?

Okay, so Radiant Office started off pretty strong. The first episode successfully introduced our main cast and their different backgrounds, and the major premise that binds them all: someone (yes, still unknown! argh) is terminally-ill!

Eun Ho-won (Go Ah-sung) is our hopeful and diligent heroine who desperately looks for a full-time job after working part-time for three years. She meets our hero General Manager Seo Woo-jin (Ha Suk-jin) in one of her job interviews and immediately, like those cliched romcom premises in dramaland, they clashed. Ho-won fails again in her 100th job interview which made her very depressed that she attempted to commit suicide. Of course, she failed again at that, and was sent to a nearby hospital. There she met two other patients Do Ki-taek (Lee Dong-hwi) and Jang Kang-ho (Hoya) who were also both living their respective miserable lives. The three eventually got mixed together in their desperate situations after overhearing their doctor that one of them is terminally-ill. Our unlucky trio decided to commit suicide all together (don’t worry, they failed again). Eventually, they decided to take another shot at life. The episode ends with Ho-won and Kang-ho meeting unexpectedly during a job interview at a furniture company. Guess who will be one of the panelists? Of course, it’s not K-drama without the usual twist of fate. It’s Woo-jin!

Girl, this episode has humor but knows how to tug at heartstrings! Did you watch the pilot episode? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section!
