(UPDATED) The waiting game is now over! The female and male leads for School 2017 have finally been cast and they are none other than Kim Sejeong of the girl group gugudan, and rookie actors Kim Jung-hyun (Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People) and Jang Dong-yoon (Solomon’s Perjury).
The upcoming School franchise will be Kim Sejeong’s acting debut, and it’s quite huge so fans are eagerly waiting for it. She will play the role of Ra Eun-ho, a cheerful highschooler who has her eyes set on enrolling at a prestigious university to date her first love. But this goal isn’t gonna be easy for her as her grades are below average.
It can be recalled that the role was first offered to Kim You-jung (Love in the Moonlight), but on June 5, her agency, Sidus HQ, announced that she won’t be taking on the role.
Meanwhile, Kim Jung-hyun will portray Hyun Tae-woon, a rebellious and reckless highschooler who got kicked out from a school in the US, prompting him to transfer to a Korean high school. Jang Dong-yoon, on the other hand, will play the role of Song Dae-hwi, a seemingly perfect student who exudes a “righteous charisma.”
School 2017 is set to premiere after Fight My Way‘s finale in July on KBS2.
