K-Drama Reaction: Ruler: Master of the Mask | Episodes 27-28

All along I thought Ruler: Master of the Mask Ep 21-22 is the messiest episode, but surprise, surprise! Ep 27-28 is not just messy, it’s full-on chaotic. I want to offer this reaction to my precious office keyboard that hid my phone while I’m watching the drama, and my bruised lower lip which I bit too many times while trying not to shout a curse at Commoner Lee Sun.

Let’s explore Ruler: Master of the Mask Episodes 27-28 based on the two snakes living in the palace.

Commoner Lee Sun, the King Cobra

Yes, Commoner Lee Sun earned this title. Aside from coveting Ga-eun, he now wants the throne for himself as well. He not only revealed to Master Dae-mok that the Chief Peddler is the crown prince, he even wants him dead.

I think my slap from the previous episode is not enough for Commoner Lee Sun, I should have punched his ~~pretty~~ greedy face!

Commoner Lee Sun seems to be working overtime to annoy me. After removing his mask, the fake king decided to fabricate lies to show the crown prince in bad light. He deceived Ga-eun by telling her that Crown Prince Lee Sun made him wear the mask and run away. The pauper didn’t stop there, he also told Ga-eun that the Chief Peddler is the crown prince.

Hyun-suk, the Basilisk

Ha! You think you’re smart Commoner Lee Sun, huh? Well someone is a bigger snake than you. Let’s give a clap to Hyun-suk for successfully fooling us that he is loyal to the fake king, but let’s give a bigger applause to Master Dae-mok for being the man behind this scheme.

Hyun-suk not only made Commoner Lee Sun believe that he is his person, he also tricked him to thinking that the crown prince tried to poison him. Paksu (applause)!

Curse You Commoner Lee Sun!

This scene broke me. I’ve been adoring Gon’s badassness and undying loyalty for a while now, and I can’t help myself but to curse the fake king for being a snake and telling Ga-eun’s secret to Master Dae-mok. I hope you choke on your own bile, Commoner Lee Sun. Okay, I take it back. I know there’s still good somewhere inside of you.

Aside from seeing Gon’s bloodied face, oppa still looks good though, what really broke my heart is the fact that he chose to be beaten than to betray Ga-eun. He didn’t even squeak, he kept his silence to the point of risking his life. Commoner Lee Sun should learn a thing or two about loyalty from him.

Ruler: Master of the Mask Ep 27-28 proved once again how Ga-eun will always stand up for Crown Prince Lee Sun. She clearly defied and fooled her grandfather, still, she was not fazed by Master Dae-mok’s anger during their confrontation. Ga-eun even reminded him of their deal that she will kill herself if her grandfather will harm the Chief Peddler.

Here’s my last reason for wanting to curse at Commoner Lee Sun. The fake king should have let the crown prince confessed his identity to Ga-eun, he did not just cause pain to Crown Prince Lee Sun, he chose to torture her feelings as well.

You can see how good of an actress Kim So-hyun is in this scene. Her emotion can change from pained to angry in a split second.

But what really caught my attention is the way she screamed right after pointing away the dagger from Commoner Lee Sun. She was able to mix the feeling of pain, frustration and anguish in her shout.
