Seems like Park Bo-gum (Moonlight Drawn By Clouds) will soon head back to dramaland! Reports have stated that our dearest Bogummy is currently offered to lead the acclaimed writing duo Hong Sisters’ (Hong Jung-eun, Hong Mi-ran) new drama Hwayugi, which will be derived from a Chinese classic story.
Cha Seung-won (Hwajung) was also reportedly considering to co-star in the drama.
The drama will be loosely based on the Chinese classic novel Journey to the West (Seoyugi in Korean), but with a modern twist. According to dramabeans, the original tale tells the story of “a monk who goes on a journey with four companions who need to atone for their sins. Among them, Sun Wukong the Monkey King is the most mischievous and troublesome, a minor god who is powerful and quick-witted but also quick to anger, and has a great deal to overcome and atone for.”
The role of the Monkey King is the one offered to Bo-gum.
Hwayugi will air on the Saturday-Sunday slot on tvN in December.
