K-Drama Reaction: The King Loves | Episode 27-28

This disappointment has been slowly building for me as I continue to watch this series. First, I recently found out just before I wrote this down that the Korean version of Episodes 27-28 are different from the international version. Apparently, an important scene that will cement the RinSan ship was revealed by Bi-yeon to San’s father. But don’t worry fam, I gotchu. I included below the links of the two-part videos I found on Twitter.

GRUMPY ALLEY

We all San’s father will die eventually… especially to those who have read the novel version. But the drama is slowly getting into my nerves because of too much scheming and evil that has been lurking in and out. Just when I started believing in the Queen again, I start to see why Song-in (Oh Min-suk) has been successfully toying them in his own orchestrated plot.

  • QUEEN’S WRATH… NOT

When you thought Princess Wonseung will be as great as a conqueror as her father Kublai Khan, something’s wrong with you. She gets easily manipulated by the Goryeo people who want her and her son down. I get her when she tried to do everything to enthrone Won (Siwan) as the nation’s king, and pin down Wang Rin’s (Hong Jong-hyun) family for the murder of San’s mom. She is highly protective of Won that she can even had the guts to ask San (Yoona) to lie about her mother’s death. But if you can read between the lines here, she was just falling into a trap set up by her own husband’s men. Song-in plans to depose Won as Crown Prince and replace him with Rin. He will use San as the bait to scar the bond of the two.

  • WON-RIN 5EVER

“Rin would never look at someone I like as a woman. That is what Rin is like. My Rin.” – Won

I love Won. Although he can be single-minded at times, and his anger management issues need to be tackled soon, his consistency in trusting Rin is truly admirable. I don’t know if he is only turning a blind eye about Rin’s affection for San, but definitely we can never doubt his trust on his friend. No matter what others tell him about Rin, he will always stand by Rin’s side. I believe in this friendship and I hope that it makes no difference once Song-in will go full swing in his plan to lure Rin to the evil side.

I melted when Minister of Finance allowed Rin to visit San! He knows that this young man loves his daughter so much. After Bi-yeon’s revelation, he is convinced that the person whom San loves is Rin, and he can entrust her daughter to him, especially that he is very ill. I am still not convinced though, especially we know that WonSan is the OTP and I don’t want to be biased despite being a RinSan shipper.
