The real rivalry starts in this hour as Wang Rin (Hong Jong-hyun) remains with the King’s side with still an unexplained reason on his part. I know he can never betray Crown Prince Wang Won (Siwan) and I choose not to doubt him on that. Song-in (Oh Min-suk) and even the King continue to convince him to claim the throne as the rightful crown prince, but Rin remains tight lipped and just silently protects the King from harm.
GRUMPY ALLEY
My favorite moments in this hour are mostly Won’s struggles to continue trusting his best friend Rin and fight for the love of his life Eun San (Yoona).
- BITTEN BY LOVE
Don’t get me wrong. I like Bi-yeon for her undying love for Eun San and her late father. She remains to be some of the few people whom San can trust, but sometimes even the most loyal person can be tricked when they are in love. And because of Bi-yeon’s affection for snake-tatt oppa, she spills out major information that cause San her life. She accidentally (and unknowingly) told oppa that San and Rin were headed to the east, and the rest is history.
- SACRIFICE IN THE NAME OF LOVE
The more chaotic the situation is, the more I admire Won. He may not be the perfect prince nor the admirable son, but at least he tries to be. He knows his mother killed innocent people for power, his father tried to depose him, and his friend betrayed his trust. But in the midst of all of these, he still pushes through with the royal wedding with Dan (Park Hwan-hee) to save Rin’s family and take the blame for the killing of San’s father.
- PROTECTING MY LOVE
Rin is more aggressive than ever, mainly because he kept being brainwashed by Song-in that the evil is the Queen. I noticed how the King is casting doubts against Moo-bi this time. Is he finally realizing that he is harboring a snake in his own room?
But as I said earlier, I still believe Rin can never betray Won. He is his only loyal friend. And the fact that Won does not get shaken by the smear campaign against Rin means so much to the story line. I just can’t tell if this will continue on after that kiss scene between San and Rin.
Rin knew Won was there, and that he is searching for San. Rin knew, but he chose to kiss her still for Won to witness. It means he is now ready to break the friendship bond that they have, and stand up for his love for San. Can he also claim the throne just like what Song-in wants him to do?
