And the unpredictable timeline continues as Bong Pil (Jaejoong) travels to the future! We finally have a glimpse to the events of the future as our hero returns to his neighborhood. He is now a full pledged police officer! How cute is that police uniform?
I am starting to get tired of this back and forth adventures through time, so I am really happy that they changed the dynamics a little bit. We started off this 11th hour a year after Pil entered that magical manhole… Soo-jin (UEE) is already married to Jae-hyun (Jang Mi-kwan), so obviously Pil failed in preventing their marriage despite all his effort and (mis)adventures. Soo-jin also recently just closed down her studio, adjusting to the life of a housewife. Jin-sook (Jung Hye-sung) is a restaurant CEO, and she is now in a relationship with the civil servant Suk-tae (Baro). They are so cute!! Jung-ae is in moving-on phase after Dal-soo returns to his old life as a chaebol. Good thing she “inherits” Jin-sook’s juice truck now, so she is currently running the business. Goo-gil is still head over heels in love with Jung-ae, and it’s so refreshing to see him not getting rejected by her. In case you are wondering, I still haven’t decided which ship to ride on… How about you? Tell me, are you on Team Dal-soo or Team Goo-gil?
- A LOVE THAT ALWAYS RUNS AWAY
Out of all the missed opportunities cursed at Pil and Soo-jin’s almost relationship, this is the most heartbreaking. It hurts so much to see that these two is not just meant to be even in the future. Although there is still hope for Pil, it’s just getting so frustrating that after everything he’s been through, it’s still not enough to make Soo-jin his girlfriend.
I was a little intrigue in this episode’s title that I have to reflect on it before I understand what the story is presenting us. Love always runs away? What does this mean?
For Dal-soo, he left because he loved Jung-ae so much that he does not his elite family looking down on the girl he liked. I suddenly understood why he does not want to talk about marriage with Jung-ae. His family background is so complicated that he would rather move in with Jung-ae as a simple DVD rental shop owner than get the approval of his cruel mother.
For Soo-jin, letting go of her long overdue love for Pil was the best choice she had. Although she still had not realized that her meeting with Jae-hyun in London was a bit sketchy, I am sure after seeing her husband’s true color in that parking lot scene, she would now have seconds thoughts.
For Pil, love has always been elusive for him. There are always outside factors whenever he decides to confess his feelings. Suk-tae, Jin-sook, Jae-hyun, and manhole… all of these were deciding factors to where Pil and Soo-jin are now. He became a police officer. His prayer for Jin-sook to move on from him really came true. But he is still stuck in his one-sided love for Soo-jin. It’s not his love that ran away. It’s the endless opportunities he missed to get Soo-jin’s heart.
Changing the past is not enough, so maybe he has to wake up from this never ending cycle and do something about his future, whatdoyouthink?
