Critically acclaimed screenwriter’s Noh Hee-kyung is remaking her debut drama, The Most Beautiful Goodbye in the World, the series that earned her a Baeksang award. The highly regarded mini-drama, which originally aired in 1996, has already been made into a movie, a stage play and a novel.
Won Mi-kyung (All’s Well With a Happy Home) will play the main character Kim In-hee, a middle-aged housewife diagnosed with terminal cancer. Kim Young-ok (Dear My Friends) will reprise her role from the original series as the mother-in-law with Alzheimer’s, and Choi Ji-woo will star as her daughter who fell in love with a married man. Idol-turned-actor Minho will join the cast as her wayward son.
The original four-episode drama was based on Noh Hee-kyung’s personal tale who also lost her mother to cancer.
The remake will also reunite the Dear My Friends tandem of PD Hong Jong-chan and Noh Hee-kyung, so prepare your tissues this early!
The Most Beautiful Goodbye in the World will follow Revolutionary Love on the Saturday-Sunday slot on tvN.
