“I’m not better than anyone.”
– Jung Jae-chan, While You Were Sleeping episode 20
The Perfect Clapback
Han Woo-tak (Jung Hae-in) and Lee Yoo-beom (Lee Sang-yeob) were called for the investigation of the attempted murder of Jung Jae-chan (Lee Jong-suk). There, the ever evil lawyer tried to imply Woo-tak and Jae-chan colluded to rule archer Yoo Soo-kyung’s death as an accident. Yoo-beom kept on insisting it was a murder despite the glaring evidence proving Do Hak-young’s innocence. This lawyer really riles me up in every episode. Good thing Woo-tak was there to deliver the perfect comeback that put this arrogant lawyer’s feet on the ground.
The Father’s Grief
I kept on talking about people’s prejudice in my last episode reaction but I forgot to consider those who are angry because they lost a loved one. It’s not an excuse to hurt another person but like Jae-chan I understood where Soo-kyung’s father, Yoo Moon-ho, is coming from. He suddenly lost his precious daughter and he vents his frustration to another person. The quote I placed above wouldn’t make sense to those who didn’t watch this series but I really like that line from Jae-chan. It was a sort-of reminder to everyone that we’re not perfect, we can do or think horrible things when our emotions are high.
The Kiss in the Rain
First of all, I should confess that I’m a pluviophile. So, if your the kind of viewer who is already tired of watching K-drama characters get soaked in the rain, please skip this part.
We finally got a real kissing scene! (and it was under the freaking rain!!!). Can I just say how beautiful this scene is? Jae-chan and Nam Hong-joo (Bae Suzy) finally profess their feelings. Hong-joo might have hesitated at first but Jae-chan reeled her in.
Maknae’s Episode Verdict
We took a break from the hectic life of a prosecutor as Jae-chan was given time to recover from his wound. As he stops for a bit of his work, he finally got the chance to put a label on his relationship with Hong-joo. They are also not the only one letting their feelings show as it’s obvious Woo-tak is also developing romantic feelings for Hong-joo. I’m happy and wary at the same time as it marks a new phase in the story. Would these emotions affect how they decide in the future? Will they do things for the better or will it be for the worse?
Afterthoughts of a Dongsaeng:
– I now declare that I actually like Prosecutor Shin Hee-min (Go Sung-hee).
– I didn’t expect Prosecutor Son Woo-joo (Bae Hae-sun) has a sad story to tell. I wonder if her side plot will be utilized?
– I think we can all agree that we can relate to Moon Hyang-mi (Park Jin-joo). ㅋㅋㅋ
