K-Drama Reaction: While You Were Sleeping | Episodes 21-22

When both paths lead to adversity, make your own course!

The Abusive Writer

New episode, new case. Prominent writer Moon Tae-min killed his teaching assistant after the victim tried to tell the media Moon’s abuse of power. Seems easy at first but things get complicated when the victim was supposed to donate his organs to ill patients including Prosecutor Son Woo-joo’s (Bae Hae-sun) son. Jung Jae-chan (Lee Jong-suk) needs to choose whether he’ll save the lives of the seven patients needing the transplant or catch the culprit.

Run Away Jae-chan!

Who says knowing the future will make life easier? Nam Hong-joo (Bae Suzy) and Han Woo-tak (Jung Hae-in) dreamed about two scenarios about Jae-chan. Both ended with Jae-chan taking the awful outcome and quitting his job. Hong-joo tried to convince Jae-chan and herself that they should just avoid the situation and let another person handle it. But we all know how stubborn these characters are. Plus, I do think that knowing what will happen made it harder to walk away. The burden of doing nothing is heavier than trying your hardest to change the future.

Complicated Things

As if complex situations in Jae-chan’s career is not enough, his personal life seems to be on the verge of going awry as well. I can’t seem to understand Hong-joo omma’s decisions. Doesn’t she know that pulling her daughter away from Jae-chan would hurt her more?

Maknae’s Episode Verdict

Last week’s episode was just a reprieve with this another headache-inducing installment. Little details were already revealed earlier so when the writer’s case dropped, it created a thin web that holds everyone in a precarious situation. Some may think such cases are far-fetched but I believe such unfair and tragic situation happens in real life. My heart aches for those who are in the same situation as these fictional characters.

Afterthoughts of a Dongsaeng

– Jae-chan’s imagination is cute.

– Lee Seung-kyung and Yoon Kyun-sang were cute as a couple too!

– Mothers are the bravest people in the world. Prosecutor Son is a proof of that fact and this is the first-time Jae-chan will really be able to save her son.
