K-Drama Reaction: Radio Romance | Episode 9

Sometimes, all we really need is just a hug from the person that matters to us the most to make everything feel alright.

Humans tend to be superficial, don’t we? We envy somebody for seemingly living the perfect life not knowing that they also suffer as much as we do. In this episode, the Radio Romance team had another remote broadcast. This time at the hospital wherein they featured the life story of a terminally ill girl. She shared her family’s struggles because of her sickness and also expressed envy over Ji Soo-ho’s (Yoon Doo-joon) “perfect” family because they’re always seen together smiling and chatting. But when the young girl asked Soo-ho what his family’s last conversation was all about, he became speechless. How could he answer this when they never really had real conversations at all but only arguments whenever they’re together?

This is the sad truth that Soo-ho has to deal with every day, which explains his cold exterior. This is also why I’m very glad that Soo-ho is now slowly opening himself up to people thanks to Song Geu-rim (Kim So-hyun) and his radio show. I’m hoping that JH Entertainment CEO Nam Joo-ha (Oh Hyun-kyung) won’t succeed in making Soo-ho quit Radio Romance because our hero needs it, the same way the show needs him. Every time he’s doing the radio show, he doesn’t only touch his guests’ and listeners’ hearts, but he also heals his own wounds.

Jin Tae-ri (Yura) is also another pitiful human being. She might be feisty on the outside but deep inside, she’s just a lonely and sad has been star. I just hope that she realizes as soon as possible that true happiness doesn’t only depend on stardom. I also wish that she finally sees Manager Kim Jun-woo (Ha Joon) as someone who truly cares for her.

The competition between PD Lee Kang (Park Yoon) and Soo-ho got more intense after they admitted to each other that they both like Geu-rim. But between the two, I appreciate more Soo-ho’s confession because he made his intentions for Geu-rim much clearer than our crazy PD, who said that as the Radio Romance producer, he likes both his writer and DJ. Soo-ho reiterated that he likes Geu-rim for who she is and warned PD Lee Kang not to put his arm around her shoulder nor talk to her casually, but the latter said he would only do such once our heroine already reciprocated our top star’s feelings.

You know, I feel a bit bad for PD Lee Kang. It’s not because of a second lead syndrome for I’m still a solid member of Team Ji Soo-ho, but because PD Lee Kang is a good man. He has been so good to Geu-rim but despite this, he is already destined to lose in the war to win her heart even before it gets started. It’s really hard to stand a chance against somebody’s first love.

But Soo-ho and PD Lee Kang are the type of rivals we will all love because their bickerings are more often than not adorable. They’re so cute when they both offered to drive Geu-rim and her omma home after the latter got discharged from the hospital. But they’re even cuter when Soo-ho tried to buy the building where Geu-rim and PD Lee Kang stay not knowing that it is our crazy PD’s property! PD Lee Kang might look like homeless, but he’s actually a good catch, huh? I would gladly volunteer myself as his girlfriend! 😂😂😂

P.S. I feel guilty over doubting Jason’s (Kwak Dong-yeon) loyalty to Soo-ho. There’s something so genuine with the way he smiles or worries for our hero, making me want to believe that he won’t abandon him despite the fact that JH Entertainment sponsored his studies. Don’t fail me, instincts!
