K-Lookbook: Five K-Drama Style Pegs for Young Women

Gone are the days when Korean drama female characters where too innocent to be true. Most recent series features headstrong women with flaws that make them more humane. Yes, they are still a tad silly and sometimes too optimist for their own good but this is part of what makes them more likable.

As we celebrate Women’s month this March, I chose to feature a series where the characters aren’t perfect and are still learning the ropes of life. The 2016 sleeper hit Age of Youth introduced five college gals who made a lot of young and young-at-heart viewers laugh and sob with their different stories. There was no doubt one would find a piece of themselves with these characters. So why not steal their own unique styles and channel them in your everyday OOTDs?

Age of Youth

The Belle Epoque girls proved even the most opposite personalities can bond and be the best of friends. So, which Age of Youth character are you?

1. Go for Comfort Yoon Jin-myung (Han Ye-ri)
Our favorite sunbae chooses comfort over everything else but that doesn’t mean she let herself look less presentable. This sneaker-wearing unnie manage to pull off those simple shirt and jeans combo with an ease.

2. Preppy College Girl Yoo Eun-jae (Park Hye-soo)
The squad’s maknae had a hard time adjusting to her new life as a college student. She eventually learned to be herself as she became more comfortable with her new environment. These changes were noticeable with the way she dressed. She transitioned from her incognito outfit on her first day to her preferred preppy look.

3. The Feminine Lady Jung Ye-eun (Han Seung-yeon)
If pink is your thing, Ye-eun’s wardrobe could be your ideal style. Her everyday outfits are the epitome of femininity!

4. Sexy and Bold Kang Yi-na (Ryu Hwa-young)
Because Kang Yi-na is confident about her body and knows what makes her beautiful, she knew exactly what clothes would flaunt her beautiful features.

5. The Bohemian Gypsy Song Ji-won (Park Eun-bin)
A free spirit like Ji-won really matches the flowy, vintage, and embroidered clothes she wore.

No matter what style you choose, the most important thing to remember is to pick garbs you are comfortable to wear and that would make you feel the best YOU.

  1. I remember Ye-eun changing her outfits in the second season as she started to wear black after her traumatic experience with her ex-boyfriend. It really implied her withdrawal from society while she still wore pink when she was at Belle Epoque with the girls because she is comfortable with them. I guess clothes do tell much about a character’s emotion and personality, don’t they? 🙂

    1. I noticed that too! She changed a lot after that incident on season one. I think those dark clothes make her feel invisible and safe.
