The chase begins
OMG Seol-ak (Son Suk-ku) abducted Yoon Bok (Heo Yool)! Though I fear for what’s going to happen to our little child, I remain optimistic that Soo-jin (Lee Bo-young) will find a way to trace them all thanks to the tracking device her research colleague attached to the truck. Remember it? I knew right from the very start it would play a vital role but the question is how Soo-jin will realize she’s got a way of finding them.
This episode gave me the adrenaline rush I’ve been craving for. The world has become smaller and smaller for Soo-jin and Yoon Bok and it’s just a matter of time for her to be caught by the police. Good thing she has a bunch of people ready to extend a hand: from her adoptive mom (Lee Hye-young) to birth mom (Nam Gi-ae), from Uncle Jae-beom (Lee Jung-yeol) to Dr. Jung (Lee Jae-yoon). I love the way adoptive mom tried to stall the police in her own fashionable way. Adoptive mom was smart to quickly catch on what’s going to happen even bringing up legal impediments to her participation in the investigation. She’s not a great actress for no reason.
I’m also hoping that Detective (Jo Han-chul) and his aid will become more of an ally than an enemy. We’ve seen that the more they dug into the case, the more it became clearer that Soo-jin didn’t forcefully take Yoon Bok and that she actually saved her from disaster. This got more strengthened by the school principal’s testimony saying Yoon Bok truly admired her mother based on the school interview they had with the child.
I shall now declare that Cha Young-shin is my favorite character in this drama. She might have gotten carried away by her emotions to have thought of removing Soo-jin from the family register but the sudden change of heart showed how she truly loves her eldest daughter. She’s the one facing death in the story but her character is the strongest even amidst the hardest times. We see Soo-jin wavered in tough circumstances but Mom continued to be her source of strength. I remember her saying that mother’s love means you’ll never win against your child.
Will Hyun-jin succeed?
I believe the key to solving the problem lies in Hyun-jin (Go Bo-gyul)’s hands. She’s the one who can shed light on everything that happened around Hye-na. Just like what she said, she could deliver the most unbiased article on the matter. I think that’s because her hands are not tied to anyone, unlike the police whose primary duty is to enforce the law, regardless of the circumstances. I hope that she succeeds in uncovering the real story and redeems Soo-jin’s action.
