Jin Ki-joo in talks to star with Jang Ki-yong in new MBC drama

MBC’s upcoming series “Come Here and Hug Me” (literal translation) is opting rising stars for their main leads with reports Jin Ki-joo (Misty) has been offered to play the female lead role.

The news comes after Jang Ki-yong (Go Back Couple) confirmed he is positively considering an offer to top-bill the series. If both accept, it will be their first major project together.

The series tells the story of a man and a woman whose fates will be connected by a murder case. The model-turned-actor is up to play the character of Chae Do-Jin, a graduate of Korea National Police University who is now working as a police lieutenant. Details about the female lead character are yet to be revealed.

The roles were previously offered to Suzy (While You Were Sleeping) and Nam Joo-hyuk’s (Bride of Water God) but both have since declined.

Jin Ki-joo is currently starring alongside Kim Nam-joo in Misty while Jang Ki-yong is working with IU and Lee Sun-kyun on My Ahjussi, which will start this March.

Come Here and Hug Me is slated to air this May on MBC’s Wednesday-Thursday timeslot after Han Hye-Jin and Yoon Sang-Hyun’s melodrama Let’s Hold Hands and Watch the Sunset.
