The lead stars are all set for the K-drama adaptation of the popular webtoon My ID is Gangnam Beauty (literal translation). Im Soo-hyang (Criminal Minds) and idol-turned-actor Cha Eun-woo (The Best Hit) have both signed on to join the upcoming JTBC drama.
The well-loved webcomic centers around heroine Kang Mi-rae (to be played by Im Soo-hyang), a timid girl who was bullied growing up because of her unattractive appearance. After undergoing plastic surgery, she enters her first year as a university student and still receives torment from other people for being a “Gangnam Beauty” (a derogatory name for some who has been under the knife). She will then meet Do Kyung-seok (to be played by Cha Eun-woo), who will start to like her.
Kwak Dong-yeon (Radio Romance) and Lee Tae-sun (Suits) have been reportedly offered the supporting roles and they are considering the offers positively.
Choi Sung-bum (Family) will take on the drama’s direction while Choi Soo-young (Cunning Single Lady, Pure Love) will write the script for the drama adaptation.
My ID is Gangnam Beauty is scheduled to take over the JTBC Friday-Saturday time slot previously occupied by Sketch.
