Yeo Jin-goo, Minah, Hong Jong-hyun cast in Absolute Boyfriend

Seems like the coast is now clear for the upcoming Korean adaptation of the hit Japanese manga Absolute Boyfriend.

Yeo Jin-goo (Reunited Worlds), who was earlier confirmed to be playing the drama’s lead character, will now be joined by Girl’s Day Minah (Beautiful Gong Shim) and Hong Jong-hyun (The King in Love).

On May 30, a source from the drama’s production house Apollo Pictures announced Yeo Jin Goo and Minah’s confirmed appearance for the Korean drama adaptation, while Hong Jong-hyun’s casting is in the final stages of discussion.

Despite earlier confirmation reports, Chun Jung-myung (Master of Revenge) and Song Ji-hyo (My Wife is Having an Affair this Week) have both bowed out of the drama.

The drama is based on manga “Zettai Kareshi” by Yuu Watase, or better known as “Absolute Boyfriend” in previous drama adaptations.

In the Korean remake, Minah will portray the heroine Uhm Da-da, who will fall in love with an android Young Goo (Yeo Jin-goo) programmed to be her ideal boyfriend. Hong Jong-hyun will appear as the popular actor Ma Wang-Joon who loves Minah’s character Da-da.

Absolute Boyfriend will be directed by Jung Jung-hwa (Flower Boy Next Door) while Yang Hyuk Moon (Mirror of the Witch) will be writing the script. OCN also announced that it will not be airing the drama despite earlier reports of broadcast. Filming is reportedly planned to start in July.
