Kwak Dong-yeon, Min Do-hee, Bae Da-bin join My ID is Gangnam Beauty

More stars are added to the cast of the upcoming Korean drama adaptation of the hit webtoon My ID is Gangnam Beauty (literal title).

Kwak Dong Yeon (Radio Romance), Min Do-hee (Longing Heart), and rookie actress Bae Da-bin (Should We Kiss First) are all confirmed to appear following the announcements from their respective camps.

ASTRO’s Cha Eun-woo (The Best Hit) and Im Soo-hyang (Criminal Minds) were both previously confirmed as leads in the drama remake.

The well-loved webcomic centers around heroine Kang Mi-rae (to be played by Im Soo-hyang), a timid girl who was bullied growing up because of her unattractive appearance. After undergoing plastic surgery, she enters her first year as a university student and still receives torment from other people for being a “Gangnam Beauty” (a derogatory name for some who has been under the knife). She will then meet Do Kyung-seok (to be played by Cha Eun-woo), who will start to like her.

Kwak Dong-yeon appears as Do Kyung-seok’s roommate Yeon Woo-young, Chemistry major in currently his graduate studies. We are going to have another second lead syndrome in this one as Yoon Woo-young is set to also fall in love with Kang Mi-rae.

Meanwhile, Dohee was reportedly cast for the role of Oh Hyun-jung, Mi-rae’s childhood friend who dreams of becoming a hip hop artist. Lastly, Bae Da-bin will portray the role of the boyish student council vice president Kwon Yoon-byul.

Choi Sung-bum (Family) will take on the drama’s direction while Choi Soo-young (Cunning Single Lady, Pure Love) will write the script for the drama adaptation.

My ID is Gangnam Beauty  is scheduled to take over the JTBC Friday-Saturday time slot previously occupied by Sketch.
