K-Drama Reaction: Lawless Lawyer | Episode 12

MASTER MANIPULATOR

Judge Cha Moon-sook’s (Lee Hye-young) mastery of manipulating people around her always leaves me speechless. I thought it was the end for her when her photos with Pres. Ahn Oh-joo (Choi Min-soo) were released to the public, but I was wrong. She managed to turn the situation around by using the violent attack on her of the father of a convict that she sentenced to death. Gosh, her acting when she “forgave” her attacker in public was so fake I was actually amazed that the people of Gisung, including Ha Jae-yi’s (Seo Ye-ji) father, believed it.

And now, she’s back on track to achieve a bigger goal, which is the chief justice post, and get rid of the people who are now useless to her, which includes Pres. Ahn. Judge Cha didn’t just put Pres. Ahn’s brainchild, the Golden City project, on hold, she also ordered his total destruction with the use of the law. I wonder how Pres. Ahn plans to hit back especially after Judge Cha left him with no money by tricking him to donate Oh-joo Group to her father’s foundation.

But what really shocked me was Bong Sang-pil’s (Lee Joon-gi) discovery that it was none other than Judge Cha who sent him the notebook that pushed him to go back to Gisung and start with his revenge plot. That was so unpredictable!!! All this time, I thought it was Mrs. Noh Hyung-joo (Baek Joo-hee) who sent him the notebook. This revelation made it clear why Judge Cha told Jae-yi to win Sang-pil’s case because getting him out of prison would also mean victory for her gameplan. It was one intricate gameplan where she made Sang-pil her unwitting puppet that would get rid of the people who know her evil secrets. What a scheming witch!!!

THE DOWNFALL

It looks like Pres. Ahn would be the first one to take the hit after he and Judge Cha parted ways. He got himself two powerful enemies, who are now working separately to destroy him. Judge Cha leaked evidence on the anomalies on Pres. Ahn’s campaign funds to the prosecution, resulting in an impending investigation. Sang-pil, meanwhile, managed to get voice and video recordings from Pres. Ahn’s sidekick Suk Kwan-dong (Choi Dae-hoon) that will prove that it was the newly installed Mayor of Gisung who ordered the murder of Uncle Choi Dae-woong. So what are you gonna do now, Mr. Mayor?

I CAN’T TRUST YOU ANYMORE

At long last!!! Jae-yi finally realized that ‘Mama’ is none other than her long-lost ‘mama.’ If it’s not for her allergy with shrimps, I think it would take her forever to realize this glaring truth. But this revelation put her relationship with Sang-pil at odds because she thought that the latter intentionally hid the truth from her do that he could use her mom in his revenge plot.

Poor Sang-pil. I know how hard it is for him not to tell Jae-yi the truth, but he had no other choice because he promised to let Mrs. Noh reveal her identity to Jae-yi herself. I just hope everything between our OTP gets back to normal once this is all sorted out. I also hope that Mrs. Noh is still alive wherever she is. I’m afraid that Judge Cha did something horrendous to her especially after she confirmed that she’s none other than Jae-yi’s omma. I hope not!
