The struggle is real with this show. Just as I was able to open up my heart and try to love it again, it pushed me away with vengeance, determined to disappoint me with it’s incoherent writing and plot developments.
Oh no you didn’t
So yes, the banquet was cancelled as expected because again (as expected) nothing was supposed to go well in this dramaverse. It’s problem after problem after problem. It’s never ending and I’m exasperated. Should I still go on?
Anyway, so after the reservation was canceled, Poong (Junho) sulked over it while Chil-sung (Jang Hyuk) used the opportunity to gain the trust of the protesting construction workers at the hotel who were standing up for their unpaid labor.
I also didn’t like the way Poong stormed to Giant Hotel and personally invited the hospital director to his restaurant for a drink… Only to serve him a small serving of jajangmyeon and sweet and sour pork with cocktail. The hospital director’s expression was quite hard to read. Did he like the food or not? Was he offended or not?
Why is Poong so mean to everyone? I don’t get it. He is workaholic and a perfectionist when it comes to the food he serves, but the way he chided Sae-woo’s Mom (Lee Mi-sook) was sooo harsh to the point that it felt dragging already. He always nags at his subordinates. He is not a good leader. Instead of encouraging them when they make mistakes, he humiliates them in front of everyone. So annoying.
Also, why on earth does Sae-woo (Jung Ryeo-won) insist that she wants to keep her relationship with Poong a secret when she’s out there kissing him in front of the restaurant. Did it even occur to them that someone might see them locking lips? Ugh so annoying.
And then here’s Chil-sung… My gosh, I knew at some point Chil-sung will see them getting lovey dovey together, but I guess when you start to really care for a character, you will never be prepared no matter how many times this type of scene gets repeated in countless of K-dramas.
GRUMPY ALLEY
When are we going to see them actually feed Dim Sum the kitten? Or will we ever see them feed her??
I think Sae-woo’s mom needs a reality slap, too. Even though Poong was really harsh on her, how could she reject him for her daughter just because he is not rich???? Like how dare you say that when your husband is in prison and you work as a dishwasher-slash-server? Is it not enough that you barely pay house rent and earn enough just to get by? Just when I thought she suffers so much right now, I could not help but change my sympathy towards her. She is still a good old fashioned madame from the elite society.
Chil-sung telling his mom that he wants to feel being raised by a mother now was the best part of this episode. I didn’t care about everyone else anymore.

I agree and I wish I didn’t. These episodes were unbelievably frustrating to watch.

There are many K-dramas with bad tempered male leads, but some actors managed to execute them without the audience hating them. Sad to say, this chef here just is not at that caliber.

Sae Woo is sooo annoying, I’ve never hated a character as much as her. Sucks because most of the other characters are well-acted. Just can’t connect with Poong and Sae Woo’s chemistry or relationship and weird game.
