The episodes were filled with love and bromance and more food. I’m glad that it’s getting better in terms of plot development, but still I can’t accept why does the writer need to make Chil-sung (Jang Hyuk) suffer a little more.
Poong loves Sae-woo
So the highlights of these two episodes were all about Poong (Junho). Poong really loves Sae-woo (Jung Ryeo-won), we all know that. But the extent of his love? That’s what we saw in these episodes. Now that the secret is out, and everyone knows about everyone’s secrets, Poong is ready to stand firm and fight for his love. He likes Sae-woo and is ready to express it even if Sae-woo’s mother Madame Jin (Lee Mi-sook) rejects it. I hate that we really went to the “feeling rich mother opposes daughter’s poor lover” route. It’s just so cliche, and their case is even worse because they’re not even doing good financially to begin with.
Sae-woo was right when she told her Mom that she should even be thankful that Sae-woo got herself into dating. She is really in a bad state right now in terms of her financial stability, and not to mention a divorced woman… She’s pessimistic that she won’t find that genuine love again, but here comes Poong, who is ready to face hell just to get her terror mom’s approval.
Poong loves Chil-sung
The brotherly love and trust between Poong and Chil-sung is no doubt one of the best ones right now. Their bromance isn’t all about the cutesy type of friendship we are so used to in K-dramas. The way Poong and Chil-sung’s bromance was executed by these two actors was really in another level.
Chil-sung started to execute his plan to takeover the Giant Hotel by picketing at the hotel lobby. CEO Yong Seung-ryong (Kim Sa-kwon) apparently decided to sell Finishing Touches restaurant to pay back Chil-sung. But that’s not what Chil-sung wants. Taking over Giant Hotel would be useless anyway if they don’t own Finishing Touches. Chil-sung eventually proposes a cooking face-off between Master Wang (Lim Won-hee) and Poong as they enter into a truce. Winner would take over the hotel and Hungry Wok. Loser takes nothing.
Of course, Poong is taken aback by the weight of the prize at stake. This bet is just too enormous for him to handle, and besides, once they lose, it means goodbye for Hungry Wok. But then again, when Chil Seong said they would just go the countryside to open a small Chinese restaurant to start over again, I was so touched. Chil-sung doesn’t really need wealth, he needs true friends who would stay with him through thick and thin.
GRUMPY ALLEY
Preach it, Seol-ja!
How cute is the vet? I think she has a crush on our dear Chil-sungi! She’s even upset that Chil-sung doesn’t remember her even though they met twice in the past already! Cute!
I knew the cooking battle won’t go on smoothly as always. I just hope Seol-ja, Sae-woo, and Maeng-dal make it in time. So frustrating!
Okay, as I said earlier… when will this show cut Chil-sung some slack? The preview for the next episodes didn’t really sit well with me… first was his unrequited love, then his building’s on the brink of bankruptcy. and now his mom had cancer???? I hate this writer.

Chilsung is in charge of the melo here! Too bad because he was actually so funny at the beginning. Anywho! Chilpoong FTW. Not expecting much from the vet storyline anymore but the potential for cute is there.
