K-Drama Reaction: Miss Hammurabi | Episode 15

A Giant Tsunami

Our beloved Department 44 is facing a giant tsunami. The public’s scrutiny is getting worse. The pressure from the higher rank is getting heavier. Anyone could start thinking if it is time to stop and run away from the big tides to avoid drowning.

I totally understand why Park Cha O Reum (Go Ara) decided to hand-in her resignation. She tried her best to stand on her ground but a lot of things threaten her stability. She eventually let herself fall down and it’s hard for her to go back up. It breaks my heart to see her like that. Her passion was slowly dying along with her heart. Fortunately, Han Se-sang (Sung Dong-il) scolded her and persuade her to think about it one more time.

Im Ba-Reun’s Tour

Im Ba-reun (Infinite L / Kim Myung-soo) also did his part to convince O Reum to stay. He reminded her she’s not totally alone. O Reum realized there are a lot of people who are willing to fight her battles with her. It was the same people she helped and inspired in the past. She’s reaping the kindness she sowed. It made the future look less grim and terrifying.

Going back to Ba-reun, I really love the honesty of this character. His confession was once again straightforward. His feelings for O Reum finally got through. O Reum initiated the kiss and it was a sign that she is not holding back anymore. She may have a lot of things on her plate right now but she’s not stopping her heart to love and be loved.

O Reum Version 2.0

O Reum really changed the people around her. Their camaraderie became stronger after O Reum bonded them together.

O Reum has also changed for the better. She is still passionate and a fighter but she knew now when to let go. She finally accepted that she can’t control everything. I like her more now as well. I previously said that I think she’s too idealist for her own good but she has learned to balance her views to what is realistically achievable.

Maknae’s Episode Verdict

I love this episode. Not just because of the kiss but because this showed how previous conflicts changed the characters. The hardships and victories they went through contributed to who they have become. I definitely would give this series’ character progress an A+.

Dongsaeng’s Afterthoughts

– I don’t advocate violence in any way but who else loved seeing that wig-wearing judge getting punched by Judge Han?

– I know this is not a kiss. It’s just a peck. But then again, we’re not watching a romance drama.

– For a handsome oppa who would take us to a library date, we pray

– Self-confidence level: Park Cha O Reum

  1. To be honest, I would have preferred a good kiss in the cheek than what they gave us. That was just so artificial and it also seemed that she was aiming for his chin, it was cringey. A small peck in the lips would also have been nice, if it looks like you’re really kissing the other person and not just planting your face on top of his…ahhh, I still love the series, but it drives me up the wall than they ruin a moment like this after all the cuteness they gave us.

    1. Hi Mary! Thank you for reading our blog 🙂

I was waiting for a good kiss too!!! I thought their date is a prologue to one knee buckling kiss but it was meh. Anyway, I would (most likely) forget that kiss because I still love everything else in this series 🙂

  2. Lovely to see all the characters grow and progress together: the conclusion of the tour when they all got together: grandma and Mum too was very poignant and satisfying
