“I found it. I think staying as your secretary is what I want to do. Perhaps… I’ve been doing the job I am good at and is perfect for me. Because I’ve gotten too used to it, I didn’t realize it. I like assisting someone… and solving problems that break out. I like the sense of achievement I feel after all the work is done. And… I don’t want the person I love to be in trouble.” ~ Secretary Kim
I WON’T QUIT
Secretary Kim (Park Min-young) is one of those “unlucky yet lucky” type of heroines we wish to become in real life. Why unlucky yet lucky? Well, it’s unfortunate that she wasn’t born well-off, but she’s still lucky that she has a very loving family. It’s unfortunate that she wasn’t able to go to college because her dad got scammed, but she’s still lucky to immediately find a decent job to support her loved ones. It’s unfortunate that she only focused on earning money for the past nine years that she didn’t have time to think of herself, but she’s still lucky to realize right before she quits that she’s on the right track.
Though she has now decided to stay as Lee Young-joon’s (Park Seo-joon) secretary, I still wanna say that I find her initial decision to quit her job and pick up her life by doing what she really wants courageous. Not everyone can drop a well-paying job and start all over again. I for one. I even remember airing my disagreement over her decision in one of my K-Drama Reactions because though it’s courageous, I thought it was impractical at the same time. I mean, she didn’t have solid plans when she decided to quit her job, plus she also wasn’t so young anymore. But who am I to question her when we all have different views and circumstances, right? At least, compared to me, she’s courageous enough to recognize at one point the fact that she’s not contented with what she’s doing anymore. I wonder if I would ever be able to do that, or if just like her, I would also be able to realize that where I am right now is actually the place I belong.
Now I think that the ones who would be the happiest with her decision are none other than the two most important men in her life—her appa and Young-joon. The heart-to-heart talk between these two gents is definitely one of the highlights of this episode. I clearly felt how sorry Secretary Kim’s father was over the fact that he wasn’t able to send her to college. I also felt how thankful he is for having a considerate daughter like her, who is willing to put herself aside just to help her family. Uri Secretary Kim is truly selfless that’s why I believe that she deserves all the good things happening to her right now.
I know I’ve said it several times already, but I’d like to say it once again. Young-joon is not only fatally good-looking, filthy rich, or undeniably capable, but he’s also a very considerate and supportive man. Simply one of a kind. I loved him even more when he decided to let go of Secretary Kim and support her in finding her passion. I’m sure his talk with Secretary Kim’s father and seeing his childhood friend doing what she loves helped him in accepting his girlfriend’s resignation wholeheartedly. But now he doesn’t have to worry about finding a new secretary who is as great as Secretary Kim! Oh, I just can’t process how fate did a very wonderful job here.
Alrighty, this episode wouldn’t be complete without these memorable scenes. Let’s take a look!
The dangerous shirt
Secretary Kim, the jealous bulldozer
Meet the reason for Secretary Kim’s jealousy… Young-joon’s “fiancΓ©e” since he’s five (Yes, she’s that pregnant woman in Train to Busan)
The intense mop fight (I told you, Secretary Kim is the one more vulnerable in her relationship with Young-joon)
Awww, Go Gwi-nam (Chansung) and Mr. Yang’s (Kang Hong-suk) worried faces are everything!
Young-joon as the best photographer (Just look at those long legs!)
The ‘hot’ date (What were you thinking, Young-joon!?! You’re one naughty guy huh π)
My heart aches thinking we only have two more episodes left before we say goodbye to this awesome drama! πππ
