I have been loving this show for so long I was actually afraid to let go once it’s over. But right now, I think I’m ready for it to end especially since they started focusing the narrative on the human Nam Sin’s (Seo Kang-joon) evil side, rather than giving us some squeeshy robot Namsin 3 (also Seo Kang-joon) scenes. Don’t get me wrong, I still love it but these two particular episodes were just too hard to watch. Violence isn’t really very pleasing and enjoyable to watch in dramaland, especially when we experience too much violence in the real world already.
As we saw in the cliffhanger, the human Sin took over So-bong (Gong Seung-yeon) and Namsin 3’s used-to-be happy movie date. Apparently, he called Young-hoon (Lee Joon-hyuk) for help after taking off the robot’s life battery. Ugh, I hate Sin’s insecurity.
Now that everyone knew about Chairman Seo’s real identity as the sponsor of Dr. Oh Laura (Kim Sung-ryung) in the making of the human size AI robots, Sin is determined to ruin everyone’s lives using Namsin 3. He convinced Young-hoon to make Namsin 3 enter manual mode with the promise of “not hurting anyone.” But of course, we all knew the human Sin very well enough that this is just a bluff.
And not so long after turning on Namsin 3’s manual mode, he managed to hurt poor RoboCop (Cha Yub) just because he touched his arm. But wait there’s more, he managed to strangle So-bong first thing in the morning, too! I know Sin is trying to prove to everyone that Namsin 3 is only a robot that can be manually controlled, but this is just too much. His potential for violence is endless.
I never imagined myself saying this but I actually liked Ye-na (Park Hwan-hee) in these episodes. I like how she stayed with Sin through it all, yet she says the right words at the right moments. She tries to talk some sense into Sin, even if Sin isn’t even minding her words. She stood up for his fiance in front of the evil Chairman Seo (Park Yeong-gyu). I still don’t like her for still telling crucial information to her dad, but at least I agreed with her for a few minutes.
I know I tried to understand Sin’s situation before because of course, he was miserable. But I will never condone his murderous self. His desire to kill even his own grandfather USING NAMSIN 3 was just unbearable I almost gave up watching. I understand that he was hurt by the Seo Jong-gil’s revelation about the death of his father, but he would be no different to his cunning grandfather.
Good thing So-bong and Namsin 3’s love for each other is stronger than any other remote-controlled watch. The “robomance” was tested when jerk Sin, through robot Namsin 3, tried to kill So-bong. The hug rule was really cleverly used to make Namsin 3 return to his old self.
