Yoo Ji-tae, Lee Yo-won to lead in spy drama Lee Mong

Veteran actors Yoo Ji-tae (Mad Dog) and Lee Yo-won (Avengers Social Club) will topbill the upcoming espionage series Lee Mong.

The melodrama is set in Gyeongseong (now known as Seoul), Manchuria, and Singapore during the Japanese colonial occupation. Yoo Ji-tae will play the leader of Korean Independence fighters, Kim Won-bong, while Lee Yo Won will play Korean surgeon Lee Young-jin, who has been raised by Japanese parents. The lives of the two characters will intertwine when they become undercover operatives for the Korean provisional government based in Shanghai.

The series is being produced to mark the 100th anniversary of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea. The production will be at the helm of director Yoon Sang-ho and will be written by Jo Kyu-won.

Lee Mong will start filming in October and is expected to premiere in the first half of 2019.
