There is something about familiar happy endings that touch my heart. And as Joo-hyuk (Ji Sung) and Woo-jin (Han Ji-min) give marriage another shot, they made sure not to commit the mistakes of the past and do it right this time. The way they portrayed a love-filled episode, despite the routine of daily struggles proved that these isn’t the Joo-hyuk and Woo-jin of the past, and their household is a much better ground for raising their children.
I also liked how Joo-hyuk was genuinely happy for Woo-jin’s promotion without giving the feeling of being pretentious. He was really elated that his wife got promoted, and that he is determined to climb his way up at his own pace, too. Even though I didn’t agree much that the drama had to repeat the scene where an important event is about to happen, but the other person was unreachable. It was stressful to watch Joo-hyuk to call Woo-jin nonstop right before he takes his promotion test. I’m just thankful that they are finally putting the lessons learned from the other timelines into practice.
There’s nothing more satisfying that seeing Joo-hyuk get promoted! Those happy tears were so worth all the struggles!!! And Woo-jin redeemed herself after that horrible act she did in the early episodes where she drenched the new console in the bathtub. She gifted Joo-hyuk a PS4 (they called it GameStation lol) for his promotion!!! #WifeGoals!
I think the biggest takeaway that I have in this drama was the importance of empathy, especially in married life. The drama may have turned into an unexpected journey to healing relationships, but this is no Go Back Couple or Manhole. It holds a distinct touch that is completely different with GBG or MH. Joo-hyuk’s time loop intervention saved his life and eventually his marriage with Woo-jin. He became a better person, and has a deep understanding with how to deal with married life in general. He now knows that before he judges his wife’s actions, he should first imagine what it’s like to be on her shoes. He now sees the importance of constant communication in a relationship, and values his family over anything else. Because of Joo-hyuk’s desperate move to change his future, Woo-jin became the woman she is today. Her potential as a successful career woman materialized, and she is now a bank team leader. As the drama strived to show the reality of a married couple who needs to juggle work, children, and love, it also made us realize that marriage is a two-way street that requires responsibility and sacrifice from both individuals.
