1. Fantagio plans legal action against Kang Hanna for breach of contract
Following the announcement of Kang Hanna that she would sign with Stardium entertainment agency, Fantagio has released a statement that they are currently in the process of initiating legal procedures against their former talent. The actress has still two years left in her exclusive contract, which is supposed to end in 2020, but she decided to submit to terminate it in March this year. Kang Hanna has been working independently since starring in tvN’s Familiar Wife.
2. Ryu Hye-young set to return to dramaland in first titular role
Ryu Hye-young (Reply 1988) makes her drama comeback through O’live’s upcoming webtoon adaptation of Eun Joo’s Room (literal translation). The other confirmed cast include Kim Jae-young (100 Days My Prince), Park Ji-hyun (Your Honor), and musical actor Yoon Ji-on. Read more here.
3. Jo Bo-ah confirmed to star in Revenge Is Back with Yoo Seung-ho
Jo Bo-ah (Goodbye to Goodbye) is now set to join with Yoo Seung-ho (I Am Not A Robot) in SBS’s upcoming romantic comedy Revenge Is Back (working title). It revolves around the tale of Kang Bok-soo, an expelled student who was falsely accused to be a bully, and returns to school to exact revenge. Jo Bo-ah will play the role of Son Soo-jung, the smart class president and Bok-soo’s first love. The drama is scheduled to premiere in December this year.
4. Lee Jong-suk accepts first ever rom com drama project
Lee Jong-suk (While You Were Sleeping) has been confirmed to star in the upcoming romantic comedy Romance Supplement (working title). This project could also be the actor’s last drama before his military enlistment. He will be play as a young EIC of a publishing house. No confirmation on his leading lady has been announced yet.
5. Seo In-guk apologizes publicly for his military enlistment issue
Seo In-guk has officially addressed his military enlistment controversy during the press conference of his upcoming drama The Smile Has Left Your Eyes. In 2017, it was reported that the actor was allegedly well aware of his osteochondral lesion (a fracture in the bottom bone of the ankle joint) but did not undergo any treatment for it. The medical condition was a ground for military service exemption, and when Seo enlisted in March last year, he was ordered for a re-examination, but was ultimately exempted from duty.
6. Kim Sun-ah, Lee Yi-kyung headline MBC’s upcoming drama Red Moon, Blue Sea
Kim Sun-ah (Should We Kiss First) is returning to MBC through the upcoming drama Red Moon, Blue Sea. She will portray the heroine Cha Woo-kyung, a consultant at a children care center who is trying to uncover the truth behind an incident that destroyed her life. Lee Yi-kyung (Partners for Justice) has also been confirmed as the drama’s leading man. This will be his first main lead role, and will appear as the righteous violent crimes detective Kang Ji-heon. The drama is set to air after the finale of Terius Behind Me.
7. Im Joo-hwan joins cast of Different Dreams
Im Joo-hwan (Bride of the Water God) is joining Yoo Ji-tae (Mad Dog) and Lee Yo-won (Avengers Social Club) in the upcoming MBC spy drama Different Dreams (also known as Lee Mong). The drama is set during the Japanese colonial occupation with Im Joo-hwan playing as a Japanese prosecutor. It is scheduled to broadcast in May 2019.
8. Kim Min-suk books first drama lead role
Hard work does pay off for Kim Min-suk (Because This Is My First Life) after being cast in his first ever lead role in KBS2’s upcoming drama special May Reach, May Not Reach (literal translation). He will star as a curling athlete with tsundere character who falls in love with a rising star athlete in their hometown. The drama special will premiere on November 16.
