Do we have a new power couple bromance in K-dramaland? Cho Jung-seok (Two Cops) and Yoon Si-yoon (Your Honor) have both been confirmed to star in the upcoming SBS drama “Ugeumchi” (literal title). What’s more exciting is that Han Ye-ri (Switch: Change the World) have signed on to join them, too!
The drama will be based on the Battle of Ugeumchi that took place in 1894 during the Donghak Peasant Revolution. Cho Jung-seok and Yoon Si-yoon will play as half-brothers who share the same father, a notorious and wealthy government employee.
The newly wed Cho Jung-seok is set to portray the role of Baek Yi-kang, whose mother is a slave and is born out of wedlock. On the other hand, Yoon Si-yoon is playing the role of the family’s youngest and legitimate son Baek Yi-hyun . Lastly, Han Ye-ri will take the role of Song Ja-in, a famous peddler’s daughter in Jeolla Province. She dreams of becoming the best merchant in the country.
“Ugeumchi” is written by Jung Hyun-min (Jeong Do Jeon, Assembly) and will be directed by Shin Kyung-soo (Six Flying Dragons). It aims to broadcast on SBS next spring as a Wednesday-Thursday drama.
