Gong Hyo-jin (Jealousy Incarnate) and Kang Ha-neul (Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo) have both been courted to return to the small screen this year through the upcoming KBS drama, “When Camellia Blooms” (literal title). If both sign on, this will be their drama comebacks since starring in their respective 2016 series. If ever, this will also be Kang Ha-neul’s first project after completing his mandatory military service.
When Camellia Blooms is a romantic thriller comedy written by Im Sang-choon (Fight My Way), and directed by Cha Young-hoon (Are You Human, Too?, Uncontrollably Fond).
Gong Hyo-jin has been offered to play the female lead, Dong Baek (which also literally means camellia in Korean). She is an orphan and a single mom to her son, who also happens to run a bar called (uhm yeah, you guessed it right) Camellia. Meanwhile, if Kang Ha-neul accepts the casting offer, he will portray the neighborhood police officer Yong Shik, a naive (but hot!) countryside boy who is completely smitten with Dong Baek.
The drama is scheduled to premiere on September 2019.
