Cable channel jtbc’s upcoming drama “Model Detective” (literal translation) has confirmed its lead cast with actors Son Hyun-joo (Justice), Jang Seung-jo (Chocolate), and Lee Elijah (Chief of Staff).
“Model Detective” is a crime procedural series about police detectives who never give up to uncover the truth in every investigation, and do everything to catch criminals.
Son Hyun-joo is set portray the veteran detective Gang Do-chang, a police officer who has been part of the violent crimes unit for 18 years. His investigations run through personal connections and reliable experience, and seldom on scientific methods. He is known to be fierce but is also loyal to the investigative team.
Jang Seung Jo plays the role of elite detective Oh Ji-hyuk, also a member of the violent crimes unit for nine years. He had a traumatic experience when he was young, which makes him very reserved and does not easily share his feelings with others. He forms a sunbae-hoobae relationship with Son Hyun-joo’s character but will display an opposite approach with his investigative skills as he always based his methods using logic.
Lee Elijah takes on the role of reporter Jin Seo Kyung, who works at one of the major newspapers in Gyeonggi Province. She is known to be dauntless in performing her duties as a journalist, and always holds the line against external pressure and confrontations despite being misundertood by others.
The drama will be a reunion project of the Untouchable PD-writer tandem of Jo Nam-gook and Choi Jin-won. It aims to premiere on jtbc’s Monday and Tuesday slot starting April 2020.
