The Korean version of the British drama series “Undercover” will become a reunion of sorts for its main leads! Ji Jin-hee (Designated Survivor: 60 Days) and Kim Hyun-joo (Watcher), who both starred in the 2015 SBS drama I Have a Lover, are both confirmed to star in this jtbc remake.
“Undercover” was a 2016 BBC political thriller about a passionate defense lawyer, who tries to stop an innocent man’s execution in the US, and her husband, who is hiding a 20-year secret with complex links to the case.
Ji Jin-hee will appear as Han Jung-hyun, an agent of the National Intelligence Service (NIS) who lives under a secret identity for years. While working on a top secret case, he met Kim Hyun-joo’s character Choi Yeon-soo. They got married without Choi Yeon-soo knowing that her husband lives a secret life. Things will get even more complicated as Choi Yeon-soo, now a human rights lawyer, will be nominated as the chief of the Civil Servant Corruption Investigation Unit.
Meanwhile, it’s also a Marriage Not Dating reunion for the leads’ younger counterparts Yeon Woo-jin (I Wanna Hear Your Song) and Han Sun-hwa (Backstreet Rookie). The project will reunite them with the drama’s PD Song Hyun-wook (Graceful Friends, Another Oh Hae Young, Beauty Inside).
Veteran actress Lee Mi-yeon (Reply 1988) is also reportedly in talks to join the remake as her small screen comeback.
The drama will be written by Baek Cheol-hyun, Song Ja-hoon, and Jung Hye-eun. It is scheduled to broadcast in the first half of 2021.
