In Spotlight: Park So-dam Filmography

With her talent and unique charm, one might think that Park So-dam easily obtain her current celebrity status. But the road to stardom hasn’t always been this shiny for her. She had her own share of rejections and failures before finally grabbing a seat among the brightest of the stars in the K-entertainment universe.

As an appreciation to this hardworking gal, we list down Park So-dam’s works starting from her humble beginnings in short films to her recent lead roles in films and TV.

No More No Less | (Short Film / 2013) – Schoolgirl

Park So-dam started her acting career in 2013 through the short film No More No Less. She shared in one of her interviews that she got rejected in around 17 auditions before she started doing independent films.

Steel Cold Winter | (Movie / 2013) – Ji-yeon

The same year, she appeared in the CJ Entertainment-backed indie Steel Cold Winter starring Kim Yoon-hye and Kim Shi-hoo. The romance/mystery thriller drew plenty of notice when it premiered at the Busan International Film Festival.

Most Ordinary Existence |(Short Film / 2013) – Su-jin

She took on numerous roles for short films in 2013 including this one entitled Most Ordinary Existence.

Ingtoogi: The Battle of Internet Trolls | (Movie / 2013) – Yeon-hee

One of her first roles in a feature film is her character Yeon-hee in the Korean Academy of Film Arts (KAFA) feature, Ingtoogi: The Battle of Internet Trolls. Here she worked with Um Tae-goo, Ryu Hye-young, and Kwon Yool.

Death Theatre | (Short Film / 2013) – Schoolgirl

Park So-dam partook in three short films in 2013, one of which is entitled Dark Theater.

The Legacy | (Movie / 2013) – Eun-sun

She took part in another KAFA feature, this time for a rom-com entitled The Legacy.

One on One | (Movie / 2014) – coffee delivery girl

In 2014, Park So-dam took on more minor roles in films. One of her appearances was in the movie One on One.

Scarlet Innocence | (Movie / 2014) – Chung-yi’s friend at the club

She was also seen in the thriller flick, Scarlet Innocence.

Suzi | (Short Film / 2014) – Suzi

Starring in another short film, So-dam played the titular role of Suzi, a high school student who excels in martial arts.

Inevitable | (Short Film / 2014) – Lee Mi-young

She was cast again in another short film. The drama thriller entitled Inevitable, where she played the role of Lee Mi-young, revolves around the story of a Buddhist monk who tried to solve the mystery behind his sister’s death.

The Royal Tailor | (Movie / 2014) – Yoo-wol

In the same year, she once again took on a small role in a mainstream film. This time for the period movie The Royal Tailor, starring Han Suk-kyu, Go Soo, Park Shin-hye and Yoo Yeon-seok.

The Youth | (Movie/2014) – Yeon-joo (Segment: Playgirl)

She was part of “Play Girl” one of the stories in the 2014 four-part film entitled The Youth.

C’est Si Bon | (Movie / 2015) – Schoolgirl

Her breakout year, 2015, started with musical drama film C’est Si Bon, in which she took another supporting role.

The Silenced | (Movie / 2015) – Yeon-duk

Her performance in the 2015 mystery thriller film The Silenced earned her a Best Supporting Actress trophy from the Busan Film Critics’ Awards.

Veteran | (Movie / 2015) – actress

She was part of the action-comedy movie Veteran, which was top-billed by Hwang Jung-min and Yoo Ah-in.

Drama Special: Crimson Moon | (KBS2 / 2015) – Princess Hwawan

Her first role for a TV project was in KBS’ Drama Special – Red Moon, which tells the story of Prince Sado (played by Kim Dae-myung) and how he spiraled down due to his insanity. Here, So-dam played the role of Princess Hwawan, the wise and meticulous sister of Prince Sado.

The Throne | (Movie / 2015) – Moon So-won

Park So-dam also starred in another supporting role in the period movie The Throne. The film’s cast also includes other up-and-coming actresses like Seo Ye-ji and Ji Jin-hee.

My First Time | (OnStyle / 2015) – Han Song-yi

In 2015, she starred with Choi Min-ho, Kim Min-jae, Jung Yoo-jin and Lee Yi-kyung in the youth drama My First Time. Her portrayal as Han Song-yi earned her a nomination for Best New Actress for TV in the 52nd Baeksang Arts Awards. The 8-episode series was then rebooted in 2019 under the title My First First Love.

The Priests | (Movie/2015) – Lee Young-sin

She bagged numerous Best New Actress awards for her strong performance as Young-shin in the 2015 mystery thriller film, The Priests.

The Vampire Lives Next Door | (Short Film / 2015) – Nami

She took on two more roles in short films in 2015 including this eccentric character in The Vampire Lives Next Door.

Blue Monday’s Woman | (Short Film / 2015) – So-dam

She capped off her 2015 with another appearance in the indie film Blue Monday’s Woman.

Snow Paths | (Movie / 2016) – Maria

Donning a nun’s habit for the movie Snow Paths, So-dam played the role of Maria, a young nun who got entangled with Jeong-woo (played by Kim Tae-hoon), an alcoholic staying in a sanitarium.

A Beautiful Mind (KBS2 / 2016) – Gye Jin-sung

In 2016, she starred opposite Jang Hyuk in the medical melodrama A Beautiful Mind.

Take Off 2 | (Movie / 2016) – Lee Ji-hye (cameo)

She made a cameo appearance in the blockbuster hit Take Off 2.

Cinderella and the Four Knights | (tvN / 2016) – Eun Ha-won

So-dam and her four knights Jung Il-woo, Ahn Jae-hyun, Lee Jung-shin and Choi Min made a lot of hearts flutter in this 2016 tvN rom-com series Cinderella and the Four Knights.

Man of Will | (Movie/2017) – Han Young-hee

In 2017, she made a special appearance in the action flick Man of Will starring Cho Jin-woong and Son Seung-heon.

Ode to the Goose | (Movie / 2018) – Joo-eun

In 2018, she was part of the drama film Ode to the Goose alongside Park Hae-il, Moon So-ri and Jung Jin-young. The film premiered at the 23rd Busan International Film Festival.

Parasite | (Movie / 2019) – Kim Ki-jung / Jessica (Alias)

Park So-dam’s performance in Oscar-winning movie Parasite goes beyond her viral Jessica Jingle. So-dam enthralled us with her portrayal of scheming Kim Ki-jung.

Three Meals A Day | (Variety Show / tvN / 2019) – Main Cast

In 2019, she joined the all-female cast of Three Meals A Day with Yum Jung-ah and Yoon Se-ah. They shot in Gangwon Province and was visited by celebs like Jung Woo-sung, Nam Joo-hyuk, and Park Seo-joon.

Fukuoka | (Movie / 2020) – So-dam

Early this year, her movie with Kwon Hae-hyo and Yoon Je-moon premiered at the 70th Berlin International Film Festival.

Record of Youth | (tvN / 2020) – An Jung-ha

After four years, Park So-dam finally made a small screen comeback through tvN’s Record of Youth. Here she played make-up artist An Jung-ha, whose life got entangled with popular model and aspiring actor Sa Hye-joon, played by Park Bo-gum.
