In Spotlight: Kim Bum Filmography

Perhaps one of the most well-known Korean stars by international fans, Kim Bum has definitely made his mark into legitimate stardom back in 2009 when he played as one of the Korean F4. But behind that angelic face and perfect dimples, lies a versatile actor who is willing to take on even the most annoying villain character. Combined with his educational background in film and theater at Chung Ang University, he has proven his acting range through the years.

He was even tapped by the Korean National Tourism Organization as one of the celebrities to star in their web drama entitled Haru: An Unforgettable Day in Korea, which aims to promote 2010 as the “Korean Visiting Year.”

The Daring Sisters (MBC / 2006) – Jung Hyun-joon

One of his early debuts was through the 2006 drama “Rude Women” aka “The Daring Sisters.”

High Kick! (MBC / 2006-2007) – Kim Bum

Still a rookie in 2006, he became part of the MBC comedy series “High Kick!” as Kim Bum.

East of Eden (MBC / 2008) – Lee Dong-cheol

He played the young version of Son Seung-heon’s character, Lee Dong-chul, in the action drama “East of Eden.” For this role, he was nominated for Best New Actor in the 45th Baeksang Arts Awards.

Hellcats (2008) – Lee Ho-jae

He had a minor role as Ahn So-hee’s boyfriend in the 2008 movie “Hellcats.”

Death Bell (2008) – Kang Hyeon

In 2008, he starred in the horror film “Death Bell” with Lee Beom-soo and Nam Gyu-ri.

Boys Over Flowers (KBS2/ 2009) – So Lee-jeong

His iconic role as one of the Korean F4 members in the 2009 drama “Boys Over Flowers” cemented his position to international fame. The drama also gave birth to his much-loved team-up with Kim So-eun.

Flight/Bisang (2009) – Si-bum

He played as a nightclub host in the 2009 movie “Flight.”

Dream (SBS / 2009) – Lee Jang-seok

In 2009, he was cast with Joo Jin-mo and Son Dam-bi in SBS’ sports drama, “Dream.” Here he played troubled youth Lee Jang-seok who aspires to become a champion K-1 fighter.

High Kick! 2  (MBC / 2009-2010) – Kim Ja-ok’s nephew (Cameo)

He made a cameo in MBC’s “High Kick through the Roof” as Ja-ok’s nephew in Episode 7.

Still, Marry Me (MBC / 2010)

Ten years ago, he starred in MBC’s romantic comedy series “The Woman Who Still Wants To Marry” or “Still, Marry Me.” He played the charming musician Ha Min-jae who eventually fell in love with broadcast journalist Shin-young (played by Park Jin-hee).

Padam Padam (JTBC / 2011-2012) – Gook-soo

His first project with “That Winter The Wind Blows” writer No Hee-kyung was through this JTBC fantasy romance entitled “Padam Padam.” The drama, where he played angel Gook-soo, also starred Jung Woo-sung, Han Ji-min, Choi Tae-joon, and Kim Min-kyung.

High Kick! 3 (MBC / 2011-2012) – (Cameo)

He returned to the third installment of the MBC comedy series “High Kick” in 2012.

That Winter, The Wind Blows (SBS / 2013) – Park Jin-sung

He starred opposite Jung Eun-ji as the second couple in the 2013 hit drama “That Winter The Wind Blows.”

The Gifted Hands (2013) – Kim Joon

Adding to his colorful filmography is the mystery thriller “The Gifted Hands” which was about a detective working on a child kidnap-murder case.

Detective Dee The Prequel (2013)

He appeared in the Hong Kong adventure fantasy movie “Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon” as the young scholar and tea maker Yuan Zhen.

Jung-yi, Goddess of Fire (MBC / 2013) – Kim Tae-do

He was part of the of the period series, “Jung Yi, Goddess of Fire” in 2013. The MBC drama, which also starred Moon Geun-young, Lee Sang-yoon, and Seo Hyun-jin, was based on the life of Baek Pa-sun, the first female ceramic artist in the Joseon Dynasty.

Hidden Identity (tvN / 2015) – Cha Gun-woo

In 2015, he was part of tvN’s crime thriller drama “Hidden Identity” about a secret squad of elite undercover detectives.

Mrs. Cop 2 (SBS / 2016) – Lee Ro-joon

He was last seen in the small screen as the main villain of the SBS weekend drama “Mrs Cop 2.”

Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead (2018) – Cheon-moo

He appeared as the hired assassin Cheon-moo in the adventure comedy period film “Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead” about a serial murder case surrounding a vampire legend.

Tale of the Nine Tailed (tvN / 2020) – Lee Rang

After a four-year hiatus, he finally returns to dramaland through the tvN drama “Tale of Gumiho” or “Tale of the Nine-tailed” where he plays the role of Yi Rang, a gumiho who resents humans despite settling in their world.

Law School (JTBC/2021) –  Han Joon-hwi

Kim Bum leads the ensemble cast of Law School as first-year law students Han Joon-hwi.
