Kam Woo-sung (The Wind Blows), Jang Dong-yoon (Search), Park Sung-hoon (Into The Ring) join forces in the upcoming fantasy historical drama “Joseon Exorcist” (working title).
The drama takes place in the Joseon dynasty and will be mixed with fictional elements. It will revolve around the royal family and their fight against the reincarnated evil spirits that want to upend the kingdom.
Kam Woo-sung has been cast as King Taejong (Prince Lee Bang-won), a coldblooded monarch who doesn’t hesitate to kill other people, even his own family members, in order to strengthen his royal authority. Even though King Taejong is proud to have helped his father establish Joseon, he feels guilty in taking part of the massive slaughter during the founding of the kingdom. Years passed and the evil spirit sealed away by the king in the past has been reborn. In order to seal the evil force away, King Taejong must face it again.
Jang Dong-yoon will appear as Prince Chungnyeong, a young prince who dedicated his life reading books. As the kingdom faces another threat from the evil spirit, he is left with no choice but to join the war.
Park Sung-hoon will play the Crown Prince Yangnyeong, the king’s first son and successor to the throne. He suffers from chronic anxiety of not being able to live up to the expectations of his father. His greed leads him to enter into a dangerous contract with the evil spirit to protect a loved one.
The drama will be written by Park Kye-ok (Doctor Prisoner) and will be directed by PD Shin Kyung Soo (Six Flying Dragons, Nokdu Flower). It will air sometime in 2021.
