Girl’s Day’s Hyeri (Miss Lee) and Jang Ki-yong (Born Again) are teaming up in the upcoming tvN adaptation of the webtoon “Frightening Cohabitation” (literal title).
The drama will revolve around the love story between a 999-year-old male gumiho (a mythological nine-tailed fox from the Korean folklore) and a female college student who accidentally swallowed his bead.
Hyeri will play the role of Lee Dam, a straightforward college girl who never had a boyfriend since birth. Jang Ki-yong will appear as the gumiho Shin Woo-yeo, a handsome and charming professor who has lived for 999 years. He is so close to achieving his goal of becoming a real human, but his marble was unexpectedly ingested by Lee Dam. Because of this, the girl is now supposed to just live for one year and will eventually die. Shin Woo-yeo came up with the idea of living together with Lee Dam until they resolve this issue.
Kang Han-na (Start-Up), Kim Do-wan (Start-Up), and Bae In-hyuk (The Spies Who Loved Me) have also been confirmed to join the cast.
Kang Han-na will play as the Yang Hye-sun, Shin Woo-yeo’s friend and a former gumiho-turned-human. She appears to be perfect but is really clumsy and naive. Kim Do-wan is also cast as Do Jae-jin, Lee Dam’s close friend who wears his heart on his sleeve. He is read to give up everything including his life and internal organs when it comes to love. He is set to fall hard for Yang Hye-sun.
Meanwhile, Bae In-hyuk signs on the role of Gye Sun-woo, Lee Dam’s sunbae who is popular among the girls in school but has an unrequited crush on her.
The drama will be written by the tandem of Baek Sun-woo and Choi Bo-rim (A Poem A Day), and helmed by director Nam Sung-woo (Kkondae Intern, Kill It, 100 Days My Prince, Weightlifting Fairy). The drama is scheduled to air in 2021.
