Yoo Seung-ho (Memorist), Hyeri (My Roommate is a Gumiho), Byeon Woo-seok (Record of Youth), and Kang Mi-na (Hotel del Luna) are all confirmed to lead the upcoming KBS historical drama “Thinking of the Moon When the Flower Blooms” (literal title).
Set in Joseon era, the drama will revolve around the time when strict alcohol prohibition was implemented. Yoo Seung-ho will lead the cast as Nam Young, an inspector from the Office of the Inspector-General. As a principled man, he left his hometown to seek success in Hanyang, and now works at the Saheonbu to crack down on the violators of the alcohol ban.
Hyeri plays the role of Kang Ro-seo, an aristocrat who brews and sells alcohol in order to pay back her debt. She doesn’t care even when people talk behind her back for working hard despite being a yangban. Unknown to the public, she is the real breadwinner of her noble family who has been supporting her older brother.
Byun Woo-seok signs on for the role of the Crown Prince, Lee Pyo. He often sneaks out of the palace to get a few drinks amid the strict liquor ban. Even though he wasn’t initially in line for the throne, he eventually rose to his position after being the only prince left in the palace.
Kang Mi-na will portray the role of Han Ae-jin. Being the only daughter of a noble family, she is raised to be graceful at all times. She is described as a blunt, stubborn lady who only does the things she wants.
The drama will be directed by PD Hwang In-hyuk (Doctor Prisoner) and the script will be written by screenwriter Kim Joo-hee. The lead stars also had their script reading recently.
Thinking of the Moon When the Flower Blooms will begin filming this month and aims to premiere in the second half of this year.
