In Spotlight: Lee Hyeri Filmography

Hyeri grew up in a humble household in Gwangju, Gyeonggi, South Korea. She and her younger sister used to stay with their grandmother while their mother was working in a factory. When Hyeri was in middle school, she was scouted by Dream T Entertainment at a talent show and later on debuted through the idol group Girl’s Day. She then went to Seoul School of Performing Arts, and majored in Film at Konkuk University.

Aside from her bubbly personality, Hyeri is also wildly known for being good-natured and charitable. She went on to become an ambassador of various causes such as free education, AIDS awareness, public health, and disaster risk management.

Tasty Life (SBS / 2012) – Jang Mi-hyun

She made her acting debut in the 2012 SBS weekend family drama Tasty Life, playing the youngest in a family of four daughters.

Schoolgirl Detectives (JTBC / 2014-2015) – Lee Ye-hee

Her first project with Jang Ki-yong was through the JTBC youth drama Schoolgirl Detectives. She was one of the main characters, an investigator of the school detective club who dreams of becoming an actress.

Hyde Jekyll, Me (SBS / 2015) – Min Woo-jung

In 2015, Hyeri became one of the cast members of Hyde, Jekyll, Me as Hyun Bin’s ultimate fan.

Reply 1988 (tvN / 2015-2016) – Sung Deok-sun

Arguably her most iconic role yet – the third installment of the ShinLee collaboration, Reply series, Reply 1988, made Hyeri a household name not just in South Korea, but internationally.

Entertainer (SBS / 2016) – Jung Geu-rin

In 2016, Hyeri was one of the main leads of the drama Entertainer alongside Ji Sung and Kang Min-hyuk.

Two Cops (MBC / 2017-2018) – Song Ji-an

Hyeri played the strong-willed reporter and love interest to Jo Jung-seok’s soul-swapping detective character in the 2017 police comedy drama Two Cops.

Monstrum (2018) – Myung

In 2018, she debuted in the big screen through the film Monstrum, a historical thriller about a mysterious creature that spreads a plague and terrorizes Joseon.

Miss Lee (tvN / 2019) – Lee Sun-sim

She received praises for her portrayal of the titular character in the office comedy Miss Lee. She played a newbie and under-qualified CEO who must save her small electronics company from bankruptcy.

My Punch-Drunk Boxer (2019) – Min-ji

Hyeri was part of the sports comedy movie My Punch Drunk Boxer, which premiered at 20th Jeonju International Film Festival in September 2019.

Record of Youth (tvN / 2020) – Lee Hae-ji (ep.13)

She showed her support for her onscreen husband Taek (Park Bo-gum) by appearing in a special cameo for Record of Youth!

My Roommate Is A Gumiho (tvN / 2021) – Lee Dam

Hyeri plays the role of Lee Dam in the tvN fantasy drama My Roommate is a Gumiho / Frightening Cohabitation (Korean title). She is a straightforward college History major who accidentally ingested the marble of a gumiho played by Jang Ki-yong.

When Flowers Bloom, I Think of the Moon (KBS2 / 2021) – Kang Ro-seo

She is now set to lead her first historical drama titled When Flowers Bloom, I Think of the Moon alongside Yoo Seung-ho. She will play the role of Kang Ro-seo, an aristocrat who brews and sells alcohol in order to pay back her debt. She doesn’t care even when people talk behind her back for working hard despite being a yangban. Unknown to the public, she is the real breadwinner of her noble family who has been supporting her older brother.
