Streaming service Netflix has confirmed the production of “Remarriage & Desires” starring Kim Hee-sun (Alice), Lee Hyun-wook (Mine), Jung Eugene (Catch The Ghost), Park Hoon (The King: Eternal Monarch), and Cha Ji-yeon (Taxi Driver).
According to the press release published by Netflix, Remarriage & Desires is a satire of Korean society that is governed by desire. Set at the exclusive matchmaking agency Rex catering to the top echelons of society, ambitious souls hope to upgrade their status by marrying or remarrying into the ranks of the elite. They aspire to nab someone from the “Black” tier, the highest group consisting of the top 0.001 percent of the population.
Kim Hee-sun topbills the drama as Seo Hye-seung, a middle-class housewife from Gangnam who loses everything overnight. At Rex, she chances upon Jin Yoo-hui, who is responsible for turning Hye-seung’s life upside-down. She enters into a race driven by desire to find someone from the Black tier.
Jung Eugene will appear as Jin Yoo-hui, a hotshot corporate lawyer who will stop at nothing to climb the ladder to the top echelons of society.
Lee Hyun-wook is set to play the role of Lee Hyung-ju, the self-made chairman of a venture capital firm. His personal assets are in the billions, placing him in the “Black” tier and making him a bachelor targeted by ambitious brides. Hyung-ju plans to overcome the failure of his first marriage and find a new partner who will better suit him.
Park Hoon will play the role of Cha Seok-jin, Hye-seung’s first love. He is also embroiled in a conflict with Choi Yoo-sun over his father’s enormous fortune.
Cha Ji-yeon joins the cast as Choi Yoo-sun, an influential person who is the CEO of Rex. She boasts a pool of the most eligible, cream-of-the-crop bachelors in Korea.
The drama will be directed by PD Kim Jung-min (Love Affair In The Afternoon, Bad Guys) and scripted by screenwriter Lee Geun-young (I’m the Mother, Too, My Mother is a Daughter-in-law).
