Lee Joon, Kang Han-na, Jang Hyuk lead new historical drama

Lee Joon (My Father is Strange), Kang Han-na (My Roommate is a Gumiho), and Jang Hyuk (Tell Me What You Saw) are all confirmed for the newest KBS2TV historical drama “Red Heart” (literal title).

Lee Joon will lead the cast as Lee Tae, a Joseon king whose grand plan is to have an absolute monarch rule and to strengthen his authority by getting rid of the so-called “Kingmaker” of Joseon and his followers.

Kang Han-na takes on the role of Yoo Jung, the woman who will catch the heart of King Lee Tae. He will choose her to become the crown princess despite objections from his family. Their union stirs a power struggle in the royal court.

Jang Hyuk is confirmed to join the drama as First Vice-Premier Park Kye-won, the “Kingmaker” of Joseon, who is a symbol of power and helped Lee Tae’s father to depose the former king. He grooms young kings to be “wise” to protect Joseon from being ruled by tyrants.

This drama reunites Jang Hyuk with his former co-stars Lee Joon (from Iris 2) and Kang Han-na (in Empire of Lust).

Red Heart will be directed by Yoo Young-eun, (How to Buy a Friend, Manhole) while the script will be written by Park Pil-joo (Marry Me Now, First Love Again).

The drama will broadcast on KBS2TV’s Monday-Tuesday time slot in the first half of 2022.
