Kim Min-jae, Kim Hyang-gi, Kim Sang-kyung cast in upcoming period drama

Kim Min-jae (Dali and Cocky Prince), Kim Hyang-gi (Fly High Butterfly), and Kim Sang-kyung (Racket Boys) are all confirmed to star in tvN’s upcoming drama “Joseon Psychiatrist Yoo Se-poong” (literal title).

The historical drama is based on a novel of the same name and tells the story of Yoo Se-poong, a famous internal medicine doctor who is ousted from the royal court after being caught up in a conspiracy. He eventually meets two individuals in the strange Gyesu village and works to take care of his patient’s physical and mental health.

Kim Min-jae takes the titular role of the warm-hearted Yoo Se-poong, a royal acupuncturist who gets involved in an unexpected incident and is expelled from the palace.

Kim Hyang-gi will transform into Seo Eun-woo, a widow who is the daughter of a noble family. She has sharp observation skills and extraordinary empathy. She does not approve of her sudden marriage and now she’s forced to stay loyal to her deceased husband.

Kim Sang-kyung will play the eccentric doctor, Gye Ji-han from Sorak village. He seems to be materialistic and acquisitive, but he is actually a sincere person deep inside. He will meet Yoo Se-poong and guide him through becoming a real doctor who heals the heart.

The drama will be directed by Park Won-gook (Special Labor Inspector Mr. Jo, Ruler: Master of the Mask) while the script will be written by Park Seul-ki and Choi Min-ho.

Joseon Psychiatrist Yoo Se-poong will premiere on tvN in the second half of 2022.
