Kim Tae-ri becoming an actress is really probably written in the stars. This gifted actress proves her prowess and delivers unique performances with each role she gets be it in movies or TV.

Born on April 24, 1990, Kim Tae-ri dreamt of becoming an actress after she joined a theater club in college. After graduating with a degree in Journalism and Communication from Kyung Hee University, she joined a theater troupe in Daehak-ro. She worked for a year as a technical crew in charge of lighting and sound.

In 2016, Kim Tae-ri landed a role in the film The Handmaiden and has since become one of the rising actresses of her generation.

The Handmaiden (2016) – Sook-hee

She made her feature film debut in the 2016 thriller The Handmaiden. She stood out among 1,500 actresses who auditioned for the role of Sook-hee and subsequently won numerous Best New Actress trophies from various awards including the Blue Dragon Film Awards.

Entourage (tvN / 2016) – herself (cameo/ep.1)

In 2016, she delighted TV viewers when she made a cameo appearance in tvN’s Entourage.

Moon Young (2017) – Moon-young

Before officially making her mainstream debut, she starred in the coming-of-age short film Moon Young, which debuted at Seoul Independent Film Festival in 2015 and was eventually released in cinemas in 2017.

1987: When The Day Comes (2017) – Yeon-hee

Together with her The Handmaiden co-star Ha Jung-wo, they became part of the ensemble cast for the movie 1987: When the Day Comes. Her role as Yeon-hee earned her a nomination for Best Actress at the Grand Bell Awards.

Little Forest (2018) – Hye-Won

Kim Tae-ri joined hands with actors Ryu Jun-yeol and Jin Ki-joo in the movie adaptation of the 2002 manga Little Forrest. Here she played the role of Hye-won who returns to her hometown after failing to pass the national qualification exam to become a teacher.

Mr. Sunshine (tvN / 2018) – Go Ae-shin

She finally made her small-screen debut in the 2018 Kim Eun-sook-penned series Mr. Sunshine. Her portrayal as Go Ae-shin earned her nominations in various award-giving bodies including in the Best Actress category of the 55th Baeksang Arts Awards.

Space Sweepers (2021) – Captain Jang

In 2021, she starred in the Netflix sci-fi movie Space Sweepers. She described her character, Captain Jang, as a smart character who holds firm to her beliefs and has a strong sense of justice.

Twenty-Five, Twenty-One (tvN / 2022) – Na Hee-do

After three years, Kim Tae-ri made a TV comeback through the coming-of-age series Twenty-Five, Twenty-One. She shines in her portrayal of passionate fencer Na Hee-do.
