Jung Woo, Lee You-mi, Kwon Yul, Park Se-young team up for new tvN sports drama

Jung Woo (Mad For Each Other), Lee You-mi (All of Us Are Dead), Kwon Yul (No, Thank You 2), and Park Se-young (Special Labor Inspector Mr. Jo) have all been confirmed to star in tvN’s upcoming drama Mental Coach Je Gal-gil (literal title).

The sports drama is about a former national athlete who quits after a scandal and becomes a mental coach to help athletes who are retired or in a slump. Jung Woo will take on the titular role of Je Gal-gil, who is described as a former taekwondo athlete with dorky charms. He caused a scandal in the past and returns to the athlete’s village as a mental coach. Lee You-mi will play the role of Cha Ga-eul, a gold medalist in short-track speed skating who has fallen into a slump.

Kwon Yul, meanwhile, will portray the role of Gu Tae-man, a former Taekwondo Olympic gold medalist who became a director of the Human Rights Center in the Korean Olympic Committee. It is said that Gu Tae-man was the reason why Je Ga-gil’s life transformed overnight. Lastly, Park Se Young will play the role of doctor Park Seung-ha, who is part of the mental health support team in the athlete’s village. Je Gal-gil was her first patient and she will reunite with him as her advisor partner.

The script for Mental Coach Je Gal-gil will be penned by Kim Ban-di (Special Labor Inspector Mr. Jo) and will be directed by PD Son Jung-hyun (When My Love Blooms). It is slated to air in the second half of 2022.
