Thrive at Five: K-Drama Bestie Squad with Five Members

Whether be it formative years or adulthood, there is no shortage of friendships in K-dramas. Even in real life, these unexpected and unplanned friendships usually become the best ones we have in our lifetime. In celebration of our blog’s fifth year, we present five K-drama squads that consist of five besties whose closeness just sort of happened naturally without any extra effort. Best friends who stick with each other even during their worst days.

โ€œA real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.โ€
โ€” Walter Winchell

๐ŸŒธ 99ers (Hospital Playlist)

The walking green flags of Yulje Medical Center! The gold standard for every single list that exists. These accomplished surgeons are always booked and busy, but they always make time for band practice or just plain get-togethers – be it a quick lunch break or a samgyup night!

๐ŸŒธ Samseong-dong besties (Reply 1988)

They grew up at a time when the world has yet to discover social media. Most of their days are spent in the four corners of their superstar friend’s room. There is never a dull moment among the high school friends. A K-drama gold about the beauty of friendship, the Samseong-dong besties are always the top of mind for the best drama squad!

๐ŸŒธ Taeyang High Squad (Twenty Five, Twenty One)

This group of young-bloods knows how to appreciate the littlest of things like sunsets and watermelons. At the same time, this group could celebrate huge moments like their friend winning gold medals. They could transform a shabby rooftop room into a cool hangout spot or turn leach-spilling accidents into a bond-forming moment. They could easily do that because their youth and innocence shine bright and warm like the summer.

๐ŸŒธ Belle Epoque housemates (Age of Youth)

Another set of a found family who met in college and formed a strong bond over their own personal pains and complicated relationships. The housemates of Belle Epoque spent precious early adult years navigating life. They just gained their independence and they are slowly spreading their wings far from home. These five girls started from being strangers who nitpick each other’s habits to doing all sorts of activities together. The only rule in Belle Epoque? No boys allowed!

๐ŸŒธ Afterlife crew (Hotel del Luna)

They are proof that “work” friends can be lifelong – or in this case afterlife long – friends as well. They may seem too professional at work but we know they have each other’s back. Our Hotel del Luna crew had to eventually say goodbye one-by-one but they left us with memories that we won’t forget, be in this lifetime or the next.
