Born on October 19, 1992, Kim Ji-won originally trained both in singing and acting. She rose to fame by starring in commercials and was even called “little Kim Tae-hee” at one point.

Kim Ji-won took part in the KNN series Mrs. Saigon, a four-episode special drama in 2008, prior to her official debut. She made her official appearance through a CF with Big Bang for a mobile phone in 2010.
High Kick! 3 (MBC / 2011-2012) – Kim Ji-won
After appearing in commercials and music videos, Kim Ji-won’s first mainstream project was the MBC sitcom High Kick 3.
Romantic Heaven (2011) – Mimi
In 2011, she starred in her first movie, the romance omnibus film Romantic Heaven. She worked alongside actors Kim Soo-ro, Kim Dong-wook, and Shim Eun-kyung.
What’s Up? (MBN / 2011-2012) – Park Tae-yi
She starred opposite Lim Ju-hwan in the musical drama What’s Up, which aired from December 2011 to February 2012. She played the character of Park Tae-ri, who inherited the musical talent of her father, and went to Seoul to study.
Horror Stories (2012) – kidnapped student
In 2012, she then headlined the omnibus film Horror Stories. She played the role of high school student Ji-won, who is kidnapped by a serial killer and had to tell scary stories to him.
To The Beautiful You (SBS / 2012) – Seol Han-na
Kim Ji-won starred in the Korean adaptation of the Japanese manga Hana Kimi, To the Beautiful You. In this series, she played the role of gymnast Seol Han-na who likes her childhood friend and high jump athlete Kang Tae-joon (played by Choi Min-ho).
The Heirs (SBS / 2013) – Rachel Yoo
She gained an international following through her appearance as chaebol heiress Rachel Yoo in the Kim Eun-sook penned youth drama, The Heirs.
Waiting for Love (KBS2 / 2013) – Choi Sae-rom
In 2013, she worked alongside Daniel Choi, Boa, and Im Si-wan for the 2-episode KBS drama, Waiting for Love.
Horror Stories II (2013) – Sa Tan-hee (segment “Escape”)
She starred as a high school girl obsessed with black magic in the 2013 sequel of the horror trilogy, Horror Stories.
Gap-dong, the Memories of Murder (tvN / 2014) – Ma Ji-wool
Loosely based on the real-life Hwaseong serial murders, the suspense drama Gap-dong featured Kim Ji-won as a high school student and webtoon artist with the pen name “Matilda”, whose series The Beast’s Path ends up foretelling the crimes.
Drama Special: The Reason I’m Getting Married (KBS2 / 2014) – Kim Ji-yeong
She took on the role of Park Hee-von’s younger sister in the KBS2 drama special The Reason I’m Getting Married.
Hidden Identity (tvN / 2015) – Min Tae-hee
In 2015, she appeared cameo in the action thriller Hidden Identity. Kim Ji-won played the role of Min Tae-hee, the past love of the series’ main character Cha Geon-woon (played by Kim Bum).
Descendants of the Sun (KBS2 / 2016) – Yoon Myeong-ju
She appeared as the army doctor First Lieutenant Yoon Myung-ju in the blockbuster romance drama Descendants of the Sun. Her memorable pairing with Jin Goo remains one of the best K-drama second lead couples.
Fight for My Way (KBS2 / 2017) – Choi Ae-ra
In 2017, she landed her first leading role in KBS2’s romance comedy, Fight for My Way, as the now-iconic character Cho Ae-ra, a department store concierge who dreams of becoming an announcer.
Mr. Sunshine (tvN / 2018) – Kim Hui-jin (cameo)
In 2018, she expressed her support for star writer Kim Eun-sook through a cameo for Mr. Sunshine, where she also reunited with her Descendants of the Sun partner, Jin Goo.
Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead (2018) – Yeo-joo
Her first sageuk film was the action-adventure comedy, Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead, wherein she portrayed a beautiful vampire who woke up from her slumber by a mysterious monk.
Arthdal Chronicles (tvN / 2019) – Tanya
She reunited with Song Joong-ki in the 2019 ancient fantasy drama, Arthdal Chronicles.

Lovestruck in the City (Kakao TV-Netflix / 2020-2021) – Lee Eun-oh
In the 2020 web drama Lovestruck in the City, she played a free spirit with a fake identity, who gets involved with a city architect, portrayed by Ji Chang-wook.
My Liberation Notes (JTBC / 2022) – Yeom Mi-jeong
She is currently starring in My Liberation Notes as Yeom Mi-jeong, whom the actress described as a character who “feels like a hatching chick trying to break the shell around her.”
