In Spotlight: Doh Kyung-soo Filmography

Aside from his successful career as a musician, Doh Kyung-soo, who goes by the stage name D.O., is also a multi-awarded TV and film actor. A native of Goyang in Gyeonggi Province, D.O. pursued his love for music and acting as a trainee for SM Entertainment during his high school days.

He enlisted as an active duty soldier in July 2019 and got discharged in January 2021. While doing military service, he was involved in various projects and took part in the army musical Return: The Promise of the Day. 2021 was a fruitful year for D.O. as he also officially debuted as a solo singer after dropping his first solo EP named “Empathy.”

To The Beautiful You (SBS / 2012) – EXO-K member

With his fellow EXO-K members, D.O. had a cameo in the second episode of the 2012 drama To The Beautiful You.

It’s Okay, Thats Love (SBS / 2014) – Han Gang-woo

He made his TV debut through the SBS melodrama, It’s Okay, That’s Love, which starred Gong Hyo-jin and Jo In-sung. His portrayal of the complex character of Han Gang-woo earned him a Best New Actor nomination at the 51st Baeksang Arts Awards.

Cart (2014) – Tae-young

His film debut as Uhm Jung-hwa’s son in the critically acclaimed movie Cart earned him several nominations, such as Best Supporting Actor at the 52nd Grand Bell Awards and Best Newcomer at the 9th Asian Film Awards!

Hello Monster (KBS2 / 2015) – Lee Joon-young (ep.1-2)

In 2015, D.O. played the young Choi Won-young in the mystery thriller Hello Monster. His famous character was a neglected child who bred murderous thoughts and eventually became a murderer.

Unforgettable (2016) – Bum-sil

He top-billed the film Unforgettable alongside Kim So-hyun in 2016 as the shy and innocent teenage version of a radio DJ, who received a letter from an old friend through his program.

My Annoying Brother (2016) – Ko Doo-young

He played the role of a national judo athlete who got blind following an accident during an international event and was forced to reconnect with his swindler brother in the box office hit My Annoying Brother. This film gave D.O. multiple recognitions from various award-giving bodies, such as the 53rd Baeksang Arts Awards, Korean Film Shining Star Awards, 13th JIMFF Awards, and 38th Blue Dragon Film Awards.

Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds (2017) – Won Dong-yeon

He took on a supporting yet impactful role as a frail young soldier who got involved in the accidental death of his comrade in the blockbuster movie Along With The Gods: The Two Worlds.

Room No.7 (2017) – Tae-jung

In 2017, D.O. took part in the movie Room No. 7 as Tae-jung, a college student who is taking a break from school and working part-time in a failing DVD room to pay back his loans.

Along With the Gods: The Last 49 Days (2018) – Won Dong-yeon

In 2018, he reprised his role as a depressed soldier in the second installment of Along With The Gods: The Last 49 Days.

Swing Kids (2018) – Rho Ki-soo

He participated in the 2018 film Swing Kids, in which he played a prisoner of war who joined a dance group. He had to shave his head, learn how to tap dance, and speak in the North Korean dialect to prepare for this role.

100 Days My Prince (tvN / 2018) – Won-deuk / Lee Yool

He portrayed a crown prince who lost his memory and wandered for 100 days under a new name and personality in the 2018 hit tvN drama 100 Days My Prince.

Bad Prosecutor (KBS2 / 2022) – Jin Jung

D.O.’s drama comeback after military discharge was through the KBS drama Bad Prosecutor. He plays the titular role, who is determined to take down those who abuse their wealth and power through his strong sense of justice.

Secret (2022) – Yoo Joon

D.O. will play the genius pianist and college student Yoo Joon, who is going through a slump in the Korean remake of the 2008 Taiwanese film Secret.

The Moon (2022) – Seon-woo

He is set to star in the upcoming sci-fi film The Moon, as Seon-woo, a space crew member, accidentally left stranded alone in space, and the space agency’s mission to rescue him.
