The production team of MBC’s upcoming historical romance drama “Lovers“ (literal title) confirmed that Namgoong Min (One Dollar Lawyer) and Ahn Eun-jin (The One and Only) will take on the lead roles, while Lee Hak-joo (My Name) and Lee Da-in (Alice) will play the second leads. The drama is set in the Joseon Dynasty and revolves around a man who vows not to marry but falls in love with a woman who still believes in love despite two failed marriages.
Namgoong Min will portray Lee Jang-hyun, who unexpectedly appears in the high society of Neunggeun Village. He has lost interest in life following a tragic event but is inexplicably drawn to Yoo Gil-chae, a woman with an indomitable spirit.
Ahn Eun Jin will play Yoo Gil-chae, the second daughter of a noble family who reigns as a socialite goddess with her beauty and charm. She initially believes she can have any man she wants, but after experiencing wartime, she matures and falls in love with Lee Jang-hyun.
Lee Hak-joo will play Nam Yeon-joon, a Confucian student studying at Sungkyunkwan. He is committed to becoming a kind and wise person and is loyal to the king and his people.
Lee Da-in will portray Kyung Eun-ae, Nam Yeon-joon’s fiancée, and Yoo Gil-chae’s closest friend. Despite the challenges she has faced in life, she remains optimistic and maintains her love and faith for Nam Yeon-joon.
“Lovers” is set to premiere in the second half of 2023.
