Go Hyun-jung (Reflection of You), Ahn Jae-hong (Be Melodramatic), and Yeom Hye-ran (The Devil Judge) are all confirmed in the upcoming Netflix adaptation of the webtoon “Mask Girl” (literal title).
Based on the webtoon of the same name, Mask Girl tells the story of an ordinary employee named Kim Mo-mi who feels insecure about her looks. She is active at night as an online broadcast jockey (BJ) (Korean term for live streamers) who works while covering her face with a mask.
Go Hyun-jung takes on the character of Kim Mo-mi. She used to dream of being a celebrity at such a young age, but was always dejected because her face doesn’t meet the beauty standards. Despite having an inferiority complex, she finds joy online while live streaming using a face mask.
Ahn Jae-hong will play Kim Mo-mi’s work colleague Joo Oh-nam. He is a fan of “Mask Girl” and develops an unrequited crush on Kim Mo-mi. His only source of happiness is watching in online vlogs/live broadcasts. He will be involved in an unexpected incident with Kim Mo-mi.
Yum Hye-ran will transform into Joo Oh-nam’s mother Kim Kyung-ja. After divorcing her husband, she raised Joo Oh-nam alone and dedicates her life for him. As her son goes missing, she does everything in her willpower to search for him.
Mask Girl will be helmed and written by acclaimed director Kim Yong-hoon (Beasts Clawing at Straws).
