Every episode just gets better! tvN really hit the jackpot in its first sci-fi thriller which continue to deliver quality episodes and satisfy viewers’ hearts with excitement every week. I love how the show is able to prove the “connection” between the two worlds. In Beta Project, Kim Woo-jin (Yeo Jin-goo) is looking for his missing twin brother Kim Beom-gyun (Ahn Woo-yeon). In Great New World, Kim Joon-hyuk (Kim Kang-woo) is looking for his long lost twin Woo-jin, (he is Beom-gyun in the future).
Part 1: Beta Project (2017)
So Han Jung-yeon (Gong Seung-yeon) apparently lost her memories when she was 18 years old after surviving a car accident. We all know it’s not true, but since she still believes it and she is still in denial about the possibility that she is Byul, I think we should join her in her journey of self-discovery, especially that her professor father crafted a very good background story of her supposed childhood.
But the answer lies to the star accessory that young Woo-jin gave Byul. Woo-jin kept on asking Jung-yeon to break the star accessory to confirm her identity. I was wondering what was so special about that yellow cutesy star, and it’s a total relief that Jung-yeon did break it before the episode ends. There was a hidden note inside the star! Byul Woo-jin
I guess that’s the confirmation that Jung-yeon needs, right?
And our poor Beom-gyun hyung… My heart breaks for him in this episode. I could not imagine the pain that he went through while undergoing the laboratory experiment. Although it’s such a relief that Joon-hyuk’s past identity is now revealed (which meant he survived the medical torture), I still feel bad for him for being the human subject of such a horrible project.
Part 2: Great New World (2037)
To be honest, the future time line leaves me more questions than answers. But I really appreciate how the story unfolds straightforwardly. We only have a month left before the series finale, and I can’t wait to prove all my theories at hand.
So Jung-yeon is indeed Bluebird. But her advocacy to return the locked memories of Smart City citizens are still unknown. She told Ho-soo (Lee Ki-kwang) that she was the reason why Human B has been locking people’s memories. That’s one hint. Is she related to the Human B chairman? And where the hell is Woo-jin? How come they are not working in this together?
I was honestly surprised that Woo-jin’s bully sunbae was the Human B director! I did not expect it, but K-dramaland never runs out of twists. So now, Human B is definitely had their eyes locked on Joon-hyuk, Woo-jin’s long lost brother. I hope he will notice how his college friend Jung-yeon never aged despite the 20-year gap.
Also, Smart City mayor’s real motive still remains a mystery. But his meeting with Woo-jin’s university professor should not be ignored. But why does the professor told the mayor that he never met the Human B company chairman? Am I missing some important bit of information here? I initially thought the Human B chair was Jung-yeon’s professor daddy! Is it another person then? Ah, this show makes me think so much!
