K-Drama Reaction: Bride of the Water God | Episode 13

“Even if we have to part ways, I want to be able to convince myself that I loved enough.”
– Ha Baek, Bride of the Water God episode 13

A Proper Goodbye

Ha Baek (Nam Joo-hyuk) left the divine realm to properly say goodbye to Yoon So-ah (Shin Se-kyung). I’ve already seen such things before and I know this would hurt twice as much as the first one. For now, I’ll savor the moments our main leads have.

They’re Actually Engaged

I was expecting the main couple to have intense-filled scenes in this episode but apparently, they are only in the eye of the storm. Ha Baek and So-ah spent the episode with light moments while our second couple’s relationship takes the center stage.

Breaking News: Moo Ra (Krystal Jung) and Bi Ryeom (Gong Myung) are engaged! Of course, it is his fiance’s duty to teach his betrothed how to do a kiss scene. And I would like to thank the dramagenies for the existence of this loveline because they made my day! (Note that I’ve used my second exclamation point already). But gone are their lighthearted bickering as things escalated as soon as Moo Ra discovered Ha Baek came back.

Bi Ryeom’s Battle

Moo Ra was right. Bi Ryeom’s anger towards Hoo Ye (Im Joo-hwan) is not just because of his immaturity. We finally knew why Bi Ryeom hates the demigod and it made me notice this character for the first time. I like Bi Ryeom and his interaction with Moo Ra and even with Ha Baek. But I never took notice of him as an individual character. He may be a player, mischievous, and hot-tempered but Bi Ryeom is a loyal deity who would always fight for you. Sure, his impulsiveness make things complicated but he is only following his emotions, something that his fellow deities lack. If he would get a good follow-up project, Gong Myung would finally get the share of spotlight other 5urprise members are enjoying.

Maknae’s Episode Verdict

After a few moments of peace, things are starting to look awry for this series’ characters. I may not like the characters’ decisions but it was not out of nowhere. The previous episodes have already hinted such character trajectories. I wonder if the plot will peak to the climax it has been building up since the beginning.
