Nostalgia Playlist: Soundtracks From Classic Korean Dramas

Ever had that random moment when you hear a song from a classic drama or movie, and it takes you back to the same old feeling when you watched it the first time? I’ve been in a K-drama slump recently. I was not really in the mood to check out the new and ongoing dramas, so I resorted to my ever-reliable cure to this languishing feeling – re-watching my old yet favorite K-dramas of all time. This gave me an idea to list some of the memorable soundtracks from Hallyu classics, which made our teenage hearts flutter in the early 2000s. Have fun!

Autumn in my Heart

Who did not cry whenever this soundtrack plays on screen? This faux siblings-turned-lovers classic still remains supreme in the melodrama genre 21 years later.

Winter Sonata

The quintessential Hallyu hit paved the way for K-dramas to get recognized worldwide. Thanks to its equally remarkable OST, fans can still remember the heartwarming love story of Joon-sang and Yoo-jin.

Full House

My personal favorite romantic comedy! Lyn’s angelic voice captured the young love between struggling writer Ji-eun and top star Young-jae. This song made me daydream of living under one roof with my own celebrity crush!

My Name is Kim Sam-soon

A drama wherein I still can’t decide whether Hyun Bin’s character Jin-heon is an alpha or beta type of male lead! He’s just arrogant yet inferior to Kim Sun-a’s titular role of Kim Sam-soon.

My Girl

This fun soundtrack complements the wacky love story of pretend-cousins! We all miss tsundere Lee Dong-wook and spikey-haired Lee Joon-gi, but Lee Da-hae’s acting in this Hong Sisters classic is just one for the books.

Princess Hours

The OST gave birth to a lot of impressive covers! This just proves the power that Princess Hours holds. It’s still one of the best romantic comedies of all time, and the chemistry of Ju Ji-hoon and Yoon Eun-hye will always be unrivaled.

Coffee Prince

This one’s special. It’s where a majority of us met Gong Yoo and fell in love with him since then. An admirable love story about the values of trust, self-worth, and acceptance – and this soundtrack is just the cherry on top.

You’re Beautiful

It will be a sin if I don’t include our favorite fictional band in this list! Let’s all bask in nostalgia in this historic ANJELL performance starring Jang Geun-seuk, Lee Hong-ki, Jung Yong-hwa, and Park Shin-hye.

Boys Over Flowers

There are honestly many memorable OSTs in this drama, and I finally settled with this SHINee classic! Who would forget the drama that gave us Lee Min-ho, Gu Hye-sun, and Kim Bum, among others? It gave birth to a whole new generation of K-drama fans!

My Girlfriend is a Gumiho

Whenever I hear Lee Seung-gi singing this OST, it never fails to make me smile! This is such a charming soundtrack that perfectly captures the good vibes brought by Mi-ho and Dae-woong.

Dream High

Could you believe Dream High aired more than ten years ago? Remembering the good old days when all our worries were IU’s successful unrequited love and the love triangle of Bae Suzy, Kim Soo-hyun, and Ok Taecyeon.

I know there are still more amazing K-drama soundtracks out there that were not included in this compilation. Do we need part 2 of this list? What’s your favorite classic K-drama OST?
