K-Drama Reaction: Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food | Episode 15

What I love about this penultimate episode was the rawness of Joon-hee (Jung Hae-in) and Jin-a’s (Son Ye-jin) characters. The break-up was inevitable, and it made them grow as better individuals, and even though their most recent meeting is a very unpleasant one, what’s important is that Joon-hee is now home and ready to take his place in Jin-a’s heart.

Although I was really disappointed with how the sexual harassment case was handled in Coffee Bay, I just reminded myself that if this would happen in real life, in most cases, victims are also forced to agree with settlements so as not to prolong their misery and deal with the shameless threats of their assailants. Oftentimes, victims are forced to shut up in exchange of something worse than a lawsuit. Sex offenders who are more powerful than their victims would resort to all dirty tactics to save themselves from more humiliation and harm. It’s the painful reality that the show aims to depict through Jin-a’s character.

Jin-a seemed to be confident and showed no trace of backing out against her enemies in the office, but she is struggling deep inside. She’s doing her best to stand up against those who have wronged her, but when the company’s image is at stake, the higher ups will not just sit back and wait for their downfall. In the end, Jin-a’s transfer to Paju as the new chief manager buried her ongoing sexual harassment case to oblivion.

Joon-hee also lived his own path in this episode. His transfer to the US office was approved, but he failed to bring Jin-a with him. Jin-a was firm in her personal fights, and she had decided not to run away with Joon-hee to the US. I just don’t get it why they have to break up just because Joon-hee was away. Ever heard of a long distance relationship, guys?

I hate to notice that as we fast forward to the present, I did not see even a hint of Kyung-sun’s (Jang So-yeon) shadow at Seung-ho’s (Wi Ha-joon) wedding. Does this mean that Joon-hee and Jin-a’s break-up also meant Kyung-sun and Jin-a’s friendship really fell out? It seems like Seung-ho and Joon-hee remained friends after everything, but I think that’s not the case with their respective noonas.

GRUMPY ALLEY

Jin-a’s mother is in the running for this year’s Best Villain. I’m sure of it. Her mere presence can ruin my day.

I still believe in karma after seeing that Kang Se-yeong (Jeong Eugene) wasn’t even included in the list of the employees who were up for promotion. That’s what you get, backstabbing spy.

Aww this show really knows how to tug at my heartstrings. I don’t want to see daddies crying anymore jebalyo šŸ˜

Who the hell is this guy and where on earth did he come from? Is he the mighty one pushed by Jin-a’s good-for-nothing Mom? WHY DOES SHE LIKE TO PIMP HER DAUGHTER WITH ASSHOLES. Money can’t buy happiness, Mom! It’s cliche, but it’s true!
